Knox's Photo Shoot

Fred is finally coming home today. After being away for two weeks, I know he is ready to come home and sleep in his own bed. Knox and I are so excited to have him home with us. I've been sending him pictures of Knox over the last two weeks.

I managed to take some photos of Knox playing in the backyard earlier this week:

He's growing so fast. He's already started losing his teeth. :(

My Better Half

It's been about a week and a half since I've seen Fred. He's been out of town working. I'm not expecting to see him until this weekend either. It's been hard.

Today has been one of those days. I need my husband, but he's not here. He called earlier at lunch time and I was an absolute mess. I had just gotten off of the phone with one of my co-workers, who had to put her 16 year-old dog to sleep this morning. I am a dog lover and it broke my heart into a million pieces. I am sure that greeting was not what he was expecting. When I returned from lunch, I had an email saying that he loved me and that he hoped my day would get better. Awww!

I am so grateful for a wonderful, caring husband. (I am sure he doesn't want me posting about his sweetness)

Sunday, I booked us a trip to Miami for our ONE year anniversary. I am so excited. I can't believe that it's already been a whole year. It will be a much needed trip for both of us. We will finally get to spend some much needed one-on-one time together. Miami in a week and a half with my hubby! Yay!!!!!

St. Patrick's Day 2009

I forgot to post this picture I found on St. Patrick's Day...

I love anything with dachshunds on it! I had to pinch Knox because he wasn't wearing green. :)

Fred and I went to my friend's house the other night for a St. Patrick's Day Party...

In the picture: Fred, Caroline, Kendra, Allonda's friend, and Allonda
Notice I didn't wear green. I was still sporting my Memphis shirt!

Jesus Take the Wheel

What a weekend?! Yesterday, I got to go to see the University of Memphis Tigers clinch the C-USA men's basketball title. It was pretty awesome and I am ready to see the Tigers in action.

Last night, Fred and I went to an early St. Patrick's Day party at my friend, Crystal's, house. It was great to see my girlfriends from high school. Overall, the day was wonderful.

Today was a whole different story. Fred and Mason left driving to our plant in Nashville, Georgia at 7:45am in the Tahoe with a U-haul behind it. This is a drive that I've been on many times. Around 3:00pm, I got a call from Fred saying that he and Mason had been in an accident. Thankfully, they are both ok, but the Tahoe is totaled.

A car in front of them lost control, swerved in front of them, hit a wall, hit them, and they then hit a wall. The U-haul jack-knifed on them. God was with them and the other driver. They have a witness who saw the driver driving erratically because of a bad tire earlier.

I've been a wreck ever since I received the call. Jesus took the wheel.

They're spending the night in Atlanta tonight. They have to meet with insurance companies tomorrow. I am just so thankful that they are ok. Please say a prayer for them as they deal with the insurance companies and continue on with their business trip.

I can't wait to hold and kiss Fred when he returns. I don't think I am fully convinced that they're ok until I see them in person. Unfortunately, it may not be for another two weeks.

Daylight Sleepless Time

I love that the sun is staying out later, but I am so sleep deprived. I haven't been able to go to sleep until after 11pm and Knox has been waking me up at 4:30am and I haven't been able to go back to sleep. It's awful.

When we "fall back" I want to go to bed at 6pm, but when we "spring forward", I want to stay up all night. I just don't get it. It's also so hard for me to get out of bed in the dark. Six o'clock feels like 2am. I am hoping that last night was the end of the restless nights!

Fred and I are both back at work this week. It feels good to be back in the office, but I do miss going to Jazzercise in the mornings and getting my workouts done early. But, I'd much rather have a job! :)

I know Knox is sad because he's stuck in our bathroom for hours, but my grandfather comes by to check on him every couple of hours. I will be heading home early today; so, he'll be happy.

For the past few days, we've had great weather. The high yesterday was 80, but the high tomorrow will be 45. :( I love warm, sunny weather and it can't get here and stay soon enough.

Is it nap time yet?

Chicken of the Sea

We all know that I LOVE Jessica Simpson. I've loved her since before her "Newlywed" days. I totally get the whole "Chicken of the Sea" issue.

Last night, Fred and I went to the Jessica Simpson/Rascal Flatts concert. It was wonderful. Jessica is awesome live and she's so pretty and so skinny! I only wish she had played more of her "pop" songs, but I guess you can't really do that at a "country" concert. It was my third time to see Rascal Flatts and they always deliver! Last night was a great night. I don't think Fred enjoyed it nearly as much as I did, but he's a trooper!

Two things that happened before the show that are worth mentioning:
1. We pulled into the parking garage and there was a sign that read, "No Cash. Pay at Exit." We rolled down our window to get a ticket from the greeter and she said, "$10". I said, but the sign says no cash. She replied, "That ain't the sign." I replied, "Then why don't you take that sign down, duh?"

2. Our tickets were at Will-Call. We approached one of the entrances and asked if Will-Call was inside. The girl replied, "I don't know what you're talking about." I said, "Will-Call, where you pick up tickets." She replied, "I don't know what Will-Call is". I wanted to say, "You idiot, you work at the FedEx Forum and you don't know what Will-Call is?"

Welcome to Memphis!

Bittersweet Symphony

Today is bittersweet. Many people were laid off yesterday at my work. Many of those are individuals from the office, the people I interact with on a daily basis. It's very hard to come in and witness people cleaning out their offices or cubicles. I just want to sit down and cry.

On the other hand, I am happy to have a job as of right now. I am currently handling purchasing for our three facilities, customer service for one facility and maybe even some payroll duties. I will be busy, that's for sure.

I wish things were different and that everyone could keep their same job, but that's not realistic in today's economy. It's just so hard. I don't even know what to say.

Please pray for my co-workers. I only wish the best for them. I hope they're able to find jobs in a timely manner. I hope that we all make it through this hard time with a stronger faith in the Lord.

March In Like a Lion and Out Like a Lamb

Yesterday, I went for my yearly check up. My blood pressure was 104/78. And the doctor said that I had a low, resting heart rate, but that is good. She asked me if I had been exercising. The first question out of her mouth was, "When are you and your husband going to start trying for a baby?" We haven't even been married a year (1 month and 2 days to go). We're still planning on waiting a while longer.

I just received word that one of my best friends from college is expecting her second baby and she found out today that it's a GIRL! She and her husband already have a daughter, Ava, who is precious. I am so excited for them! Congratulations to the Strzalko's!

I'm telling you, there are babies all around me!

Today is a good day because I hit my 40th class at Jazzercise. It's an accomplishment from the year's past. I am hoping to make it to 50 by next week or the end of the month. My mom hit 50 today; so, a big congratulations to her.

I love food and tonight we're getting FREE pizza from our home builder. I couldn't be more excited! I love free things and especially pizza. And I think I've earned it with my 40 Jazzercise classes!

The weather in Memphis is crazy. Some of the schools are still closed from the ice on the roads, but every road I have been on has been clear. They're expecting a high of 75 on Friday. How do you go from snow to 75 in 5 days? Welcome to Memphis. We definitely live up to the saying "March in like a lion and out like a lamb".

I am working from the office this week, which is a nice change of scenery from our office at home. Fred is still off this week and bless his heart, I keep leaving him a list of "honey-do's" each day. Some of it is things I just don't want to do, but don't tell him that. Please continue to pray for us and our co-workers.

Winter Wonderland

We ended up getting 8 inches of snow at our house last night. That's pretty amazing for Memphis. It was beautiful, but now it's melting away. I was over playing in the snow since Fred and I did that last night.

I was going a little stir-crazy today. We got a call at 7am saying that church services were cancelled this morning and I have been up ever since. Fred and I managed to drive a mile to my parents house for breakfast. Once we were home, Fred took a long nap and I did chores. I even managed to make unsweetened iced tea. It was my fist time so I had to call my parents and ask for directions. My dad laughed. Yes, I was born and raised in the South and I don't know how to make iced tea.

When I finished my chores, I decided to lay down and flip through the channels. Low and behold, "Legally Blonde" was on! The musical is coming to Memphis this week and I am dying to go, but I don't have tickets. So, I settled for watching it on television.

After it was over, the streets were clear enough for us to drive and we went to Home Depot and the grocery store. Fred made a surprise stop at Blockbuster and rented us "Legally Blonde 2" and "Pineapple Express". I am excited, but would rather see "Legally Blonde" on stage.

I am headed back to work tomorrow which is a good thing, but Fred is still off. Please continue to pray for us and those we work with. We still don't know what the future of our company is. Maybe we'll know more this week.

If you got a snow day, I hope you enjoyed it!
