Full of Life

Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers for Knox. On Friday, he had two baby teeth removed, an extra digit removed, neutered and a microchip inserted. But, when we got home, you couldn't tell. He's been full of energy all weekend.

I snapped the above picture to show how full of life he is. He loves the new couch and acts as though it's his jungle gym.

Dr. Carr Kelsey at the Kelsey Canine Medical Center in Collieville, TN is the BEST!!!! He even called to check on Knox that evening.

Pictures of the redecorated living room are coming just as soon as we finish. Stay tuned!

Show Us Where You Live Friday: Master Bedroom

It's time for Show Us Where You Live Friday at Kelly's Korner. This week's featured room is the Master Bedroom.

"This is where the magic happens." Did anyone ever watch "Cribs" on MTV. Well, that's what they would all say when entering the master bedroom.

Our entry way to the bedroom:
I love this cross:
Our bed from the side:
Our bed head on:
Entry Way is on the left and to the right is the master bathroom:
Knox's toy basket (notice the dachshunds on there):
Our windows and Knox's pillow (he loves to sit in the sunshine):
Our tv and dresser:
UPDATE: We just bought a new sectional and television for our living room. I'll be posting the new pictures soon.

Our bedroom will probably be the next room we re-do. I'd love to get a chaise lounge for in front of the windows. And eventually, we'll upgrade to a King size bed.

Thanks for stopping by!

Wicked

Fred is taking me to see Wicked tonight at The Orpheum Theatre. This will be my first time seeing it. Everyone has told me how great it is. I am so excited to finally see it!

I wanted to see three musicals this year (Mama Mia, Legally Blonde, and Wicked). I saw Mama Mia with my mom and mother-in-law in November and tonight is Wicked. I guess I'll have to catch Legally Blonde some other time.

Our NEW and Improved Game Room

With our new furniture on the way, we went ahead and got rid of the unused, broken gym machine and we moved our old living room furniture and tv into the game room.

Here's what it looks like now:

We still need some lamps and pictures

We still have the unused StairMaster:
Hallway to the Game Room:
I forgot to feature this, but we have these two desks built in for our future children to use:
With a little decorating, this room will look better. But, I am so glad that the old workout machine is gone and that we're getting new living room furniture. I'll post pictures after it arrives.

Getting "Tutored"

I just booked Knox's appointment to get neutered. I am so sad about this. I know it's for the best and since he hasn't met any nice dachshund girls with nice families, it's time. So, Friday, please say a little prayer as our baby goes in for surgery. I'll be sure to get him a big treat for his recovery!

Am I the only crazy one or were any of you sad or nervous about putting your fur child through this procedure?

Resolution Part 2 Kicks Off Tonight!!

New Year's Resolution Part 2 is finally kicking off tonight. I have invited my parents, grandfather, and friend, Mason, over for dinner and then to help us move our current living room furniture into the game room since our new furniture will be delivered tomorrow. I guess it's sort of a bribe to help us carry the furniture upstairs.

On the menu:
Easy Cheesy Chicken Rolls
Green Beans
Olive Garden salad
Rice

And I actually have planned out two other meals for the weekend. I hope I can stick with it this time.

I'll post pics of the new living room and game room when they're finished. :)

Want to Know More?

I was tagged by Ashley! Some of my readers don't know me personally; so, here are a few tidbits about me.

1. I am an only child, grandchild, and great-grandchild on my mom's side of the family. Yes, I am spoiled.

2. I love to travel. I did a study abroad in Perugia, Italy during the summer between my sophomore and junior years in college. It was life-changing and I love the Italian culture, but it also made me appreciate US history more. (Yes, this is the same place where the American student is accused of killing her roommate.)

3. My parents and my grandfather are three of my very best friends. They are great role models and I have learned so much from each one of them.

4. I am fortunate. I was raised in a Christian home and I have always known God as my Lord and Savior. There wasn't a defining moment for me. I've always believed. Years ago, coupons were printed on receipts in red. When I was three, I freaked the cashier out because I said, "Mommy, Jesus say that".

5. I've only had dachshunds. I don't know any other breed of dog nor do I want to. I love the little manipulative, cute wieners.

6. I lost 30 pounds in the last year. I don't know why I didn't do it sooner. It's really made me more active and it's made me enjoy life more. Don't worry, I still enjoy my M&M's, but in moderation.

7. My number one pet peeve is when people call me "Carolyn". My name is Caroline. Don't you see that my name has the word "line" in it?

8. I love designing and decorating. I am so excited to be getting our new television and couch this week. I feel like our house is now becoming our home.
9. Fred and I met at a party that neither one of us wanted to go to. We were friends for four months before we started dating. Our first date was Thanksgiving 2006 (November 23).

10. The past two years have been the most life-changing years of my life. Some things were good and some were bad, but I learned a lesson from each of the moments and for that I am grateful.

Now, the rules are to post 10 things about you that are true, that your readers might not know . Then you have to tag other bloggers to do the same. Don't forget to put your award on your page!!

Freaks and Geeks

If you're looking for something to watch this summer, then you must watch "Freaks and Geeks". Fred and I just finished the series and we loved it. Too bad it's not still on television. If you watch it, let me know your thoughts.

Baywatch

This past weekend, Fred, my parents, my grandfather, Knox, Willie and I headed to Pickwick Lake for some fun on the water.
Here's a picture of Knox in his life jacket:

Another Week of Not Cooking

Week Two of my New Year's Resolution Part 2 is coming to an end and it wasn't as bad as week one because I made a salad to take to Bible Study, but I didn't attempt to make anything else. Why?

Sunday: Dinner with my mom's side of the family at my parents house
Monday: Pei Wei (we hadn't had it in so long)
Tuesday: Bible Study (I made Five Cup Salad)
Wednesday: Buffalo Wild Wings
Thursday: Willie's birthday dinner at my parents
Friday - Monday: We're at the lake

Next week isn't looking so good either, but I think I can squeeze in a night or two. I feel so guilty. I want to do this. I HAVE TO MAKE TIME! I HAVE TO!!

Maybe I should plan on officially kicking off Part 2 on July 1. It's only a little over a week away, can you believe it?

Show Us Where You Live Friday: Game Room and Laundry Room

It's Friday (actually Thursday night) and you know what that means...it's time for Show Us Where You Live Friday at Kelly's Korner. This week, we're focusing on game rooms and laundry rooms.

Our laundry room is probably one of the most used rooms in our house. I can't stand to have dirty clothes; so, at least one load of laundry is done every day. Now, I know this won't always be the case when we have children.

Our washer and dryer (my parents' old washer and dryer):
Window to the street:
Baskets of hangers and rack to hang clothes:

Freezer with a basket of beach towels on top and cleaning equipment:

Our wonderful cabinet space:

Our game room is currently a graveyard for broken and unused workout equipment. I go to Jazzercise and Fred recently joined ATC Fitness, a 24 hour gym close to home. When we get our new living room furniture arrives and our new television gets hung, we'll move our old furniture and television up to the game room.
Here's the unused workout equipment graveyard:
Fred just had to have this total gym from one of our co-workers and the thing has never worked. It came broken and it's still broken. Does anyone want it?

The Stair Master that came from Fred's parents house and has been used a total of 10 times since it took up residence at our house:
Love Sacks (If you've never sat on one of these, you're missing out. They are so comfortable):
The curtains in our game room...at least they're "game room" material:
And our closet filled with board games from my childhood:
Keep in mind that we've only been married for a year and we're still hunting and gathering furniture and decorations. One day, I hope for all of this to be beautiful and complete. One day.

Happy 9th Birthday, Willie!

F*R*I*E*N*D*S

Fred and I have been blessed with some awesome friends. We don't get to see most of them too often because of busy schedules or geographic distances. Over the past few weeks, we've been fortunate enough to see a lot of our close friends.

Today, I had lunch with one of my oldest friends, Kathryn Finnern Choate. She and I met on the playground in Kindergarten when she was climbing up the jungle gym with a broken leg. (I am good at remembering details) It was so nice to catch up and see each other. Katie, a Spanish teacher, now lives in New Orleans with her husband, Stephen. She is one of my dearest friends and we don't see each other enough.

(This photo was taken at her bridesmaids luncheon last year)

A couple of weeks ago, some of Fred's friends from college came into town and stayed with us. They were in town to celebrate one of Warren's last nights before heading off to the Middle East. Since then, Warren has been deployed to Kuwait. He is a helicopter pilot for the US Army. I would like to thank him and all of the other men and women for serving our country so bravely.

Wet Nose, Wet Bed

Knox is our furry child. He sleeps with us every single night. The vet tried to persuade me not to do it and to crate train him, but I couldn't. I love having the little fellow snuggled right next to me.

Our little guy is a bed wetter. He's only 7 months old and he's still a bed wetter. He did it a few times when he was a pup, but last night, he did it again. This time, it was worse.

Around 3:30am, I heard him starting to stir around and I reached my hand down to touch him and I touched a puddle. It was disgusting. I jumped out of bed, turned the light on and immediately started stripping the bed. I don't think Fred realized what was going on at first.

We had to wash the comforter, the new sheets (I just put clean sheets on earlier Sunday), and the mattress pad. Everything was soaked.

By the time we got the sheets changed and the laundry going, it was close to 4am. I never really fell back asleep and I am definitely paying for it right now.

I felt terrible for Knox because he just seemed confused by the entire thing. I think he does it in his sleep. He always lets Fred or I know when he needs to go out. I tried to scold him, but I don't think he undrstood. A fellow blogger, Jenn, has the same problem. Are we the only two?

Some of my friends have said that Knox is doing a great job of training us to be parents to human children. At least with Knox, he goes right back to sleep.

Bliss

Last night, Fred and I went to dinner with his parents and his sister, Sara, for his parents' 39th wedding anniversary.

My parents celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary earlier this month. I only hope that God allows Fred and I to be together as long as our parents.

Happy Anniversary to the Brown's and the Smithwick's!

Show Us Where You Live Friday: Bathrooms

It's Friday and it's time for Kelly Korner's "Show Us Where You Live Friday". This week, we're touring bathrooms!

Our house has 4 FULL bathrooms. Two downstairs and two upstairs.

Our Master Bathroom is one of the most used rooms in the house. I love it because our vanity's are separate and it has lots of room. The theme of our Master Bath is dachshunds.
