Today is Show Us Your Life: Wedding Party and Flowers at Kelly's Korner.
Fred and I were married April 5, 2008. Our wedding party included: two Matrons of Honor (Jen and Laura), two Maids of Honor (Shannon and Ashley), two Best Men (Quincy and Fetty), two Groomsmen (Tippett and Warren), four Ushers (Mason, Josh, Rob and Jeff), one Ring Bearer (Brandon), two Flower Girls (Jessica and Emma) and three attendants (Kendra, Katie, and Brittany).
The Wedding Party: My bridesmaids:(L to R: Ashley, Shannon, me, Laura, and Jen)
(L to R: Jen, Laura, me, Shannon, and Ashley) Jen was my very first friend at the University of South Florida. I met her the first night of rush. We were in the same rush group and we both went ADPi. Laura is my best friend. She and I traveled around Europe for a month after graduating college. We'll always have Cofu. Shannon and I knew each other in college, but didn't really become good friends until Jen's wedding. Ashley and I were instant friends. Her grandma lives in Memphis!
Sorority Picture:Ashley, Jen, Laura and I are all Alpha Delta Pi alumnae (diamonds) and Shannon is a Tri Delt or Delta Delta Delta alumna (triangle)
The Groomsmen, Ushers, Fred and Ring Bearer:(L to R: Tippett, Warren, Fetty, Rob, Fred, Mason, Quincy, Jeff, Josh and Brandon, in front) (L to R: Tippett, Fetty, Fred, Mason, Rob, Warren, Quincy, Jeff, and Josh with Brandon underneath)Tippett, Fetty and Warren are all friends of Fred's from college. Fred grew up playing basketball with Quincy, who ironically went to middle school with me. Jeff and Fred were high school friends and played basketball together. Rob and Josh are friends of ours. Mason is my best guy friend. And Brandon is Fred's nephew.
The Flower Girls:Emma (Fred's cousin's daughter) and Jessica (Fred's niece) Emma cried when she found out that Jessica was going to be our flower girl. She wanted to be one so bad. Fred's mom agreed to make Emma a flower girl too.
Our attendants:Kendra and I are friends from high school.I met Katie on the playground in kindergarten. She is one of my oldest and dearest friends.Brittany is Fred's friend from college.
My flowers on the Left and the Bridesmaids flowers on the Right:Our wedding colors were brown, pink, green and white.
I hope you enjoyed a glimpse into our wedding. As you can tell, we don't take ourselves too seriously. We love to have fun and I think our pictures prove that!
My night of Buffalo Wild Wings and Big Brother was interrupted by a tornado and severe storms. This did not help my funk. The tornado touched down in the exact area where my BWW is located. Several local businesses are damaged and several thousands are without power. Even my beloved Pei Wei was injured. :(
Since the tornado destroyed part of the town and it's been raining ALL day long, we decided to stay in and cook a pizza. It was super easy and super delicious and not to mention cheaper than ordering a pizza!
I am so thankful that we did not lose power. Every time we have bad weather, it seems as though we lose power. I think our electric garbage can was taken out when the power went off yesterday. Thanks, bad weather.
"A River Runs Through It"This is a picture of the rain water in our backyard. It looks like a river.
"Look-Out Tower" I told y'all that Knox loved to sit on the back of the couch.
I hope that no one else had any bad weather! Hopefully, the sun will shine bright tomorrow or at least over the weekend. :)
This has not been my week. So, instead of telling you how bad of a week I am having, I am going to focus on the things that make me smile...
I just bought my new running shoes to start my 5K training . They'll be here tomorrow! But, I haven't started training since it's been raining. As soon as the rain stops, I'll start. I promise. I was told at lunch that I couldn't do it. That's even more of a challenge.
Fred surprised me last night by telling me that he bought me the USF sweats from Victoria's Secret that I've been coveting for some time now. (he's not very good with secrets) He told me that it would keep me warm during my 5K, but I think I would burn up wearing all of that and running. I can't wait until they get here! I might never change clothes. Ok, I will because that would be gross.
Tonight is Thursday; so, that means "Big Brother" and Buffalo Wild Wings at my house! Is it sad that I look forward to this each week?
We're expecting...a new truck that is! Fred has been truck shopping over the past few months and I think he's found a new baby. It should be here within another day or so. Fred's current truck is a 1995 teal Chevy Silverado. It's awful and I won't shed a tear when it's gone. I call it the "Green Machine". But, thank goodness for the Cash for Clunkers deal going on. That's saving us a ton!
Knowing that Fred will have a new truck soon, I decided to buy him a nice University of Tennessee Alumni license plate frame. Do you like?
On a serious note, please say a little prayer for my friend, Jenette. She delivered a baby boy yesterday at 29 weeks. The baby is currently in the NICU and he only weighs 3lbs.14.6oz. The baby does not have a name yet. Mother and baby are thought to be doing well. Her husband recently lost his job and she's a stay-at-home mom.
I'm hoping when the rain leaves, my funk will go away. I function much better with sunshine and warm weather. :)
To all, thank you for the tips on running the Race for the Cure 5K and getting the right shoes. I am very excited and can't wait to wear my new sneakers!
Fred has decided that he is going to run with me. He is a former basketball player for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and he wants to get back in shape. He ordered his shoes online this morning. A little bit of healthy competition is always good, right?
Some of you have asked what plan we're doing. Click here to see the plan. It seems simple enough. Now, ask me this again in week 3. I'm going to check out the other plans you all suggested. I am in pretty good shape; so, I feel like my goal will be accomplished.
Thank you for the complements on our sectional. We got it Ashley Furniture Home Store. (their stores are better than the website) We had a wonderful salesman and a great experience. The couch is super comfy and it's microfiber (easy to clean). Knox also likes the wide back because he likes to sit up there and look out.
Do you think I need new running shoes? I've been inspired to attempt to run a 5K by a friend and fellow blogger, Erin. Erin has been working so hard and she's amazing.
I've walked in 5K's, but I've never ran in them. In high school, I was on the pom squad and I could run 2 miles in 15 minutes, but those days are long gone. When I try to run now, it feels like I have a caboose behind me jiggling up and down.
Road to the 5K 1. Set a deadline. I'd like to run the Race for the Cure in Memphis on October 31, 2009. That gives me 14 weeks from this Saturday. 2. Buy a new pair of running shoes. Now, this is the dilemma. I can't find any I like; so, that's why the silver and pink ones remain. I do have a $10 off coupon at Dick's Sporting Goods. What do you think of these or these? 3. Start training. I found a great 6 week guide to running a 5K; so, I am going to try that out since I have a few weeks to spare.
I'm not sure if I'll start today because it's been raining off and on all day, but let the training begin! (Ok, now this means I have to be accountable to all of you...YIKES)
We're not done yet, but we're getting close. Click here to see the before picture.
Where our old tv was: I love these chairs: The most comfortable sectional: Where the new tv is placed:(we're going to hide the ugly wires and place the DVR and BluRay in the opening of the end table)
We have a bit more work to do. I'm not in love with the baskets on the fire place, their just holding the space for something better. Our living room is finally coming together and becoming our home. Do you like it?
Also, I'm on Twitter. Click on the button at the top right hand side of my page to follow me.
What is this you ask? Well, the handsome, little devil, pictured below, has chewed our box springs under our bed. Thursday when I got home from work, I noticed that it was torn a little, but on Friday, he went to town and ripped one side completely.
He has numerous bones and toys; so, why does he choose the box springs?
Thankfully you cannot see this unless you are on the floor looking up. I put a blanket under the bed today and that seemed to help. I hope this was a two day thing. Can you believe this innocent face did this?

Now that we're finished with the home tours, Kelly at Kelly's Korner is now hosting Show Us Your Life. This week's feature is your wedding dress.
The dress I chose for the wedding was the very first dress I tried on at the bridal salon. It was love at first sight. My mom made me try on one more just to make sure that the first one was the one for me. It was and here it is:
Fred and I were married on Saturday, April 5, 2008.
Is anyone else watching Big Brother this summer? It's a guilty pleasure for Fred and I. We had a marathon last night to get caught up and I can't wait for tonight's episode.
One thing is really causing me to scratch my head... Who owns the green "USF Bulls" shirt? I've seen Jesse and Natalie wearing it. Since I am a proud alum of the University of South Florida, I want to know who my fellow Bulls supporter is. There aren't that many of us out there, ya know? If you know who it is, please let me know. I might be their biggest supporter from here on out.
I haven't really found that one person that I really like. Do you have a favorite?
This summer, I took part in a neighborhood Bible study. We studied the Bible in chronological order for eight weeks. We brought food each week and shared recipes. Let me just say that there are some great cooks in this bunch of women. It was great getting to know each of these women better and learning more about the word of God. Ginger was kind enough to open up her home for us each week and she was a phenomenal teacher. I truly enjoyed each week.
I feel blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful women. It really makes me love my neighborhood more.
We celebrated the end of the study with a baby shower for Megan, who is expecting her second little boy in August.
Top Row (L-R): Carla, Valerie (my mom), me, Megan, Ellen, and Patty Bottom Row (L-R): Shawnelle, Ginger, and Kris Not Pictured: Mandy, Cathy, Chris, and Debbie
I am looking forward to doing this again and hopefully more women from the neighborhood will join. Now, I just have to figure what I am going to do on Tuesday nights.
