Happy Halloweenie

Happy Halloweenie from The Smithwicks!

*I photoshopped this picture; so, don't worry, I didn't put him through torture.

Everyone, have a safe and fun Halloween! I can't wait to see all of the little Trick or Treaters. I have good candy (3 Musketeers, Milky Way and Snickers)!!!

And if you need shoes, click here. Oprah is giving away a 50% off coupon to Payless Shoes. But, it expires today.

Be on the look out for pictures from Knox's 1st birthday party next week!

I Must Confess

I debated whether or not to tell you all this, but I wanted this to be a place where all of you could hold me accountable when I get crazy ideas for goals. So, I have a confession...

Remember the girl who was going to run the entire 5K in the Race for the Cure? Well, she no longer exists.

Race for the Cure is this weekend and while I am signed up to participate, I will not be running the 5K. My training lasted a week and I never met my goal. FAIL!

I probably won't even go to the race because I still feel weak and because it's supposed to RAIN! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Part of this is contributed to the fact that it rains like every day here and has since I got this bright idea. And the other part of it is that I just used rain as an excuse.

I am not proud of this. I am embarassed. I had good intentions, but what went wrong? Maybe next time I'll think twice about publicizing goals. :)

So, there you have it. That's my confession. Whew, I feel much better.

P.S. "This Is It" was amazing. RIP Michael!

Wishful Wednesday: Costumes

'I wish' .... I was six years old and going trick or treating, and my costume would be Cinderella! As a child, I always wore my dance recital costume from the previous year. I never really liked getting dressed up (and I still don't). But, if I could go back and do it again, I would have been Cinderella at least once. I loved her. And since we're both blonde, it would have been easy to pull off.

I have always loved Halloween candy (except for candy corn). I love the miniature Milky Way, Snickers and Three Musketeer candy bars (I'm giving those out). I love Smarties and Nerds. I'm pretty sure that my dad used to eat some of my Halloween candy, but that's ok. I'll do the same when Fred and I have children.

If Fred was six, he'd probably wear this Harry Potter costume...
And if we had a baby, it would definitely wear this...
And there is no way that I would let my daughter wear this...Yep! That's Miley's little sister, Noah. Where are Billy Ray and the momma? This girl is TOO young to wear something this revealing. Sad. I wouldn't even wear that at 26. Yikes!

Want to participate in Wishful Wednesday's, visit The Seattle Smith's. :)

But, I really wanted a Michael Jackson shirt to wear tonight to "This Is It". I didn't have any luck finding one last night. :( Oh, well. I'll let you know how the movie is. I can't wait!

Comfort Food

Thank you all for the "Get Well" wishes. I am still under the weather and this rain doesn't help. I should've bought an ark a few weeks ago.

Anyway, it's cold and rainy here; so, what's better than looking up comfort food recipes on Paula Deen's website? I just posted a few on Cookbook Jungle. I can't wait to try them. If you try them, let me know what you think.

I am not a cook. I am domestically challenged and I HAVE TO HAVE a recipe. Sad. Huh? I wish I had a personal cook who would cook me healthy things and force them down my throat. Chocolate and candies just sound so much better.

I think the apples would be a nice touch for Knox's 1st birthday party in 5 days. :)

Help!

Yes, I am sick AGAIN. Seriously, can I not catch a break? I take a multi-vitamin and I drink orange juice every morning. What else is there to do?

I am so sick of being sick. I feel like I repeat myself every week. It sucks! I refused to go to the doctor today because I just paid my last doctor's bill last night. Ugh!

And yes, I am one of those horrible people who goes to work sick. Why do I want to waste a vacation day sitting at home doing nothing?

Does anyone have any suggestions? I am open to just about anything at this point. Help!

Quick Weekend Recap:

Friday Night...I started to feel bad and we had to take church directory pictures. I looked awful in them and asked if I could submit my own. They said no. Fred was referred to as "Jeff" by the photographer. And then we had a nice dinner at Bonefish with my mom, dad and grandfather.

Saturday...Took Knox for a long walk. Went to Moe's Southwest Grill. Ran errands. Went to see "Couples Retreat". We liked it. Ate sushi. And went to Williams-Sonoma to get Snickerdoodle cake mix. Once we got home, I felt awful.

Sunday...Skipped church. Got soup. Got two pair of shoes (I have to have a new pair of silver flats every year). Relaxed. Went to ADPi Alum Exec meeting. Went to dinner at my aunts. Came home and felt worse.

Someone, please help me!!!

Friday Nonsense

Yay for Friday! I cannot wait to sleep in tomorrow morning!

Tonight, we're having our picture made for our church directory. I wish these would have been done in the summer; so, I could wear something cuter. I am tempted to wear something sleeveless and just wear a jacket.

My friend and I just bought our tickets to go and see "Michael Jackson's: This Is It" on Wednesday! I am very excited and still sad that Michael is gone. It doesn't matter what he did or didn't do. The man was talented. Maybe I should go to Target and buy a MJ shirt to wear to the movie. :) Am I the only one going to this?
I have to admit that I sent NINE pictures in of Knox for the Kelsey Canine Medical Center's calendar contest. Here's the ninth one:After I submitted Knox's pictures, I decided to try to make my own calendar on Shutterfly. That place is amazing. I was having WAY too much fun playing around. We make my mom a calendar of her dog Willie every Christmas. My friend told me about Shutterfly when I was in Tampa. You can also make photo albums, cards, gifts, etc. Check it out!

We don't have much planned this weekend. Our neighborhood is doing a fall festival tomorrow and that's right in the middle of lunch time. My family always goes to Moe's Southwest Grill at noon on Saturday's. And since we really don't have any kids, is there any reason to go? So, sorry neighbors! Happy Weekend!

My Child is Cuter Than Your's

Let me warn you that this may be my most random post ever:

So, it's raining AGAIN, but today, I am wearing my new rain boots that my mom bought me in Miami. I love them, but I should have brought some other shoes. My feet are hot, but dry. They're Aldo and you can get them here. I love the animal print.

Knox's vet does a calendar every year. The deadline to submit photos in November 1 (Knox's 1st birthday), but I decided to go ahead and submit EIGHT photos. Is that too many? Anyway, these are the ones I submitted:

Which one do you like? If he doesn't win, at least I'll have almost enough for my very own Knox calendar. :) Yes, I am that mom! I just can't get over how much he has grown. They grow up so fast.

I also launched a new Christmas ornament at Paw Prints & Co. Check it out!

Happy Thursday, everyone!! I can't wait to eat Buffalo Wild Wings tonight and watch "The Biggest Loser" (a Thursday night tradition around my house).

Wishful Wednesday: Vacation

'I wish' .... I was going on vacation tomorrow, and I would want to go Bora Bora!
I haven't seen "Couples Retreat" yet, but the previews look amazing. I know they filmed it in Bora Bora and the scenery looks amazing.

I am dying for a trip to somewhere warm and relaxing. I defintiely need it. I need a tan and some time to veg out. I can see myself napping in the hammock pictured above.

Fred has always wanted to go there. He loves the idea of the huts on the water. It definitely sounds like a romantic vacation.

I think our next vacation will be a family vacation with my parents and grandfather. We usually go somewhere warm for my birthday. This year's destination: TBD. Any ideas?

Where would you go? Visit The Seattle Smith's and tell us where.

And I have to brag, I'm featured at Gangl*icious today! Check it out!

My Brain is F-R-I-E-D

So, here's the pic of our house all decked out for Halloween. I love spiderwebs!

And since my brain is fried today, I stole this from one of my favorite bloggers, Chelsea at Roots and Rings.

Once again, answer in the comments. If you answer on your blog, leave us the link in the comments so we can all visit.

1. What’s your favorite late night talk show?
Since I go to bed at 10pm, I don't get to watch the late night shows, but I've always liked Jay Leno. I was even an audience member once. :)

2. If you got an all expense paid week-long trip for two, where would you go and who would you take?
Right now, I would like to go somewhere warm and tropical where I can lay in a hammock all day long. I'd probably choose Australia or Fiji since it's all expense paid.

3. What’s your stance on Botox?
I'm not sure I would do it, but if you want it, go for it.

4. I have to read a few classic novels for my 101 in 1001. Do you have any recommendations?
The Great Gadsby???

5. Have you ever broken any bones?
No...I even tried when I was little and no luck. Now, I hope to never break a bone.

6. What are your top five favorite television shows?
In no particular order: The Office, Biggest Loser, How I Met Your Mother, CSI: Miami, and The Young and The Restless.

7. What is something you are embarrassed to admit?
I wouldn't be upset if my sister-in-law backed out of taking her daughter to the Miley Cyrus concert tomorrow night and asked me to go.

8. Best movie line ever?
I love lamp.

9. Cupcakes, cakes, or brownies?
Both. I'd kill for one right now. I have a major sweet tooth.

10. Can somebody PUH-LEASE help me find a dress to wear to a few weddings this winter??
Try something from Banana Republic, J Crew or Ann Taylor.

Happy Tuesday, everyone!!!

Lazy or Productive?

Ok, I LOVED "The Proposal". I am not one for watching movies over again, but I would definitely watch this again. It was hilarious and I love Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds! A definite must see and it's good for guys too!

Fred and I were going to see "Couples Retreat" this weekend, but we ran out of time. How is that? Fred wants to see "Where the Wild Things Are". I am a fan of the book, but the movie just looks a little weird to me. We also watched "The Wrestler" and I would say to skip that movie!!

We did a lot this weekend, but in some senses, it seems like we didn't do much at all. I do feel like I need a detox from all of the food I ate over the weekend. And I really should get back to cooking. I posted a great recipe on my recipe blog that I am dying to try. We got caught up on all of our Tivoed shows. And we took walks to enjoy the weather and we spent time with our families.

We decorated the outside of our house for Halloween yesterday. I'll take a picture and post it for you all. I love fake spiderwebs and spiders. Knox was scared of the spider since it's bigger than he is.

Last night we took one of my friends out to eat for her birthday. This is something that she, Mason (our other friend) and I have done since high school. With our busy lives, it's so nice to make time for each other.

I finished some of my Paw Prints & Co. orders and I started on some new ones. I released the ornament line this weekend as well. I love the dachshund one of course.

Ok, so we all know that I am crazy about Knox and crazy about things when it comes to Knox, but I am having a dilemma when it comes to his 1st birthday party. Fred wants to have hot dogs, but I want to do a sort of German theme since he is a dachshund. Any ideas?

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. It was cool here, but at least the sun came out!!! Yay for sunshine!!!

TGIF, Y'all!

Ahhh, it's Friday. I haven't worked a full Friday is about three weeks. It feels a little odd. Not to mention that I am one of two people in the office. It's so quiet.

I had to get out of here for a minute; so, I ran to the post office. On my way back from the post office, I decided to run into some video store to see if they had "The Proposal". And they did! I snatched it up because I knew if I got to the video store closer to my house this evening, they wouldn't have it. Somehow, it magically disappeared off of our Netflix. I wonder who did that? So, we now know what I'll be doing this evening!! I love me some Ryan Reynolds!
Fred's dad made it through surgery and now has to spend the next few days in the hospital. Fred's sister is hosting a slumber party for 9 and 10-year-olds for my nice, Jessica's, birthday tonight. Fred's mom doesn't want to be around all of that; so, she may spend the night at our house. We'll see.

Knox is back to his old self. He really loves the chicken noodle soup for dogs food. It's expensive; so, I am checking to see if there's something similar. He loves it even more when it's mixed with his dry food. My little boy is growing up.

I can't believe it's basketball time already. Tonight kicks off Memphis Madness for the University of Memphis Tigers. We have a new coach and we're ready to play. I also have to root for Tennessee since Fred was on the team and all. Unfortunately, my school, University of South Florida, isn't so good at basketball; so, I root for the home team.
And I am very sad because my 6-0 South Florida Bulls lost last night to Cincinnati. Such a bummer, but we'll keep on winning!

Also, Jill at The Young & the Precious featured me as her "Bloggy Babe of the Week". I am so honored. Jill is so sweet and so cute. I just love her "wild woman". Check out her blog. We share a passion for "The Young & the Restless", "The Office" and "Big Brother". Thank you, Jill, for you kind words.

And the mayoral election didn't ruin "The Office", but it ruined the ending of "The Mentalist". Doesn't our local CBS affiliate know that I need my Simon Baker?!!!

The sun is supposed to shine this weekend; so, I am looking forward to that! I need a pumpkin and I need to decorate the outside of my house for Halloween.

And does anyone know where I can get a button for my blog made? Thanks!!!

Is It Friday, Yet?

Here's proof that Knox is really feeling better:He was very active last night and was barking for the chicken noodle soup for dogs food. He loves it more than his normal food, but who doesn't like a nice treat?

Today is such a busy day: Fred's dad is having knee replacement surgery this morning. Please say a prayer for him. I am going to lunch with some of the ladies from this summer's Bible Study. And my parents return from their week long trip to Miami (I'm so jealous). So, I am definitely looking forward to the weekend!!!

And it's election day in the Memphis city limits and I am just praying that they don't interrupt "The Office" tonight! Is that bad?

Thank you to everyone who checked out Paw Prints & Co. Be on the lookout for the Christmas ornament line coming out very, very soon!!!

I just made a blog for Paw Prints & Co. Check it out here! Become a follower and tell you friends! Thanks!

Wishful Wednesday: Talent

'I wish'...I had one particular talent and it would be to SING!

I sing in the car. I sing all of the time, but I am horrible (or so I have been told). I think should have been a performer, but I just missed out on the whole singing thing.

I could have been the next Celine Dion, Britney Spears (minus the crazy) or Carrie Underwood.

I am really good at lipsyncing. If Ashlee Simpson can do it, why can't I?

If you'd like to join in on Wishful Wednesday, head over to The Seattle Smith's.

Also, thanks for the well wishes for Knox. He's feeling much better today. He's not back to his old self, but feeling much better. Thank you.

My Sick Child

Well, I am working from home today because I have a sick child. Yes, my poor baby, Knox has a tummy virus. He was sick all night and I spent most of the night laying with him on the floor and rubbing his back. I took him to the vet this morning and I got him some medicine. They also gave him the dog version of chicken noodle soup.

He is so groggy and it hurts to see my baby feeling so bad. Hopefully, the meds will work and he'll be feeling better soon. He's resting now and cuddle right up next to me. Poor baby!!

Surprise!!

This weekend, I surprised my best friend at her baby shower in Tampa. I had her convinced that I wasn't going to be able to fly in, but I was there. I had two other friends in on the secret; so they planned a dinner for Friday night. Laura and Jaclyn had already arrived at the restaurant when Jen and I walked in. Laura was so surprised and we both cried when we saw each other.

I've never surprised anyone like that before. It was so much fun, but it was so hard to keep it a secret from her. Laura had a great shower and it was great to see some of my other friends while I was there.

Here are some pictures from the shower:
