Mind Over Matter
As you all know, I've been doing Jazzercise for five years. It wasn't until the past two years that the weight started to come off. I never understood why it wasn't coming off before until I looked at myself and realized that I was not working as hard as I could and I wasn't eating right.
Since I started Pilates, I have had another realization about my workout style. I am still not working as hard as I can. Pilates has given me focus on my stregnth and abilities. I decided that my arms and my legs are not going to fall off. They may hurt, but they'll still be connected. And it's ok to sweat. Real women do.
This past week, I've really taken on a new mentality while working out. Saturday, I walked 7 miles and all during this week and I've put in the work at Jazzercise.
I haven't lost weight on the scale, but I can tell that I have built more muscle and that I am toning in places that I never thought possible.
I've also tried to drink more water. I normally drink at least 64oz., but for the past week, I've been drinking close to 100oz. It really helps satisfy me and nourishes me. Water is probably the purest thing you can put in your body.
Sometimes it really is mind over matter. What are some things you tell yourself when working out?
