The Price of Beauty Re-cap: Paris, France
Did you all catch Episode 2 of Jessica Simpson's "The Price of Beauty"?
In this episode, Jess, CaCee, and Ken traveled to Paris, France. Home of fashion. Oh, how I love Paris!
When they arrived, they met with their "Beauty Ambassador", who is a commercial and runway model. She discussed the need to be thin among models and the fashion industry. She started modeling at age thirteen and was measured every single day. Any slight change in her body could have resulted in losing her job. I couldn't imagine that pressure.
After meeting with the ambassador, they decided to try some Parisian massages. Jessica got a "grape" massage where they rubbed grapes all over her body. I would love to try that. Ken bathed in a tub filled with wine. And CaCee had some other massage that looked like raisins covering her body. I would definitely try the grape massage and wine bath. Anyone know where I can get one in the States?
The trio then met with Isabelle Caro, a model battling anorexia. Isabelle once got down to about 55lbs. and doctors thought she would not survive. Jessica asked if anyone reached out to her and she said no. So sad. But, she started eating little by little and is surviving. She's made it her goal to raise awareness about anorexia in the fashion world. She is well-known for posing nude in campaign ads to raise awareness. Here's a pic of one campaign ad:It makes me so sad to see women of all ages go to the extreme to be thin. Be comfortable in your own skin and love yourself. We're all trying to look better for one reason or another, but we all need to accept ourselves and stop letting other's opinions change our perception of ourselves. Let's all just focus on being healthy.
The show ended with Jessica walking in a fashion show. Who knew she was shy? She was so scared, but she did a fantastic job. I loved her dress. Then the trio attended a photo shoot of the "average French woman". She met France's first plus-sized model who said the most beautiful thing about a woman is confidence. So true.
I really love the message that this show is trying to send. I also love looking into other cultures to see their perception of beauty.
Next week...India! Are you watching it yet??
