Is it really the end of April already? What does this mean? It's Memphis in May! May is the best month to visit or live in Memphis. There are so many fun things going on during May.
Memphis in May officially kicks off tonight with the Beale Street Music Festival. This is a three day music festival in downtown Memphis, but when Music Fest comes, the rain comes. It has rained during Music Fest 7 out of the past 10 years. We actually call it Mud Fest now. Fred and I were going to go tonight to see Neon Trees, Mute Math, 30 Seconds to Mars and the Goo Goo Dolls, but the rain is keeping us away. When we were younger, the rain didn't bother us as much. I remember my mom would leave dry clothes in the garage for me to change into when I got home. We had a bathroom in our garage and I would shower and change into the dry clothes. You never wear anything good to Music Fest.
I was actually looking forward to going to Music Fest, but maybe next year!
Memphis in May is also meant to pay tribute to some other country. I believe this year is Tunisia. I remember being in 1st grade and wearing my panda pin when China was the country.
Some other fun things about Memphis in May: BBQ Fest, the Greek Festival, the Italian Festival, Sunset Symphony, the Zoom Through the Zoo, Zoo Brew and many more other great things! So, if you want to come to Memphis, come in May! But bring some rain boots and a poncho!
I have a very busy weekend finishing getting ready for the Memphis ADPi Alumnae Association's 22nd Annual Ronald McDonald House Benefit Golf Tournament on Monday. Pray for NO RAIN!!!
P.S. Tomorrow marks the 6 year anniversary of my graduation from college at the University of South Florida. I can't believe it's been that long. How time flies!
