Weekend Safari

Not that we're going anywhere or doing anything overly fun, but I thought I'd put together this little "Weekend Safari" Polyvore. I love animal print and I love these colors.

I am hoping for sunny, warmer weather this weekend to get Knox out and walk him. Some fresh air will do us all good.

Do y'all have any plans for the weekend? Happy Friday!

Mind Over Matter

As you all know, I've been doing Jazzercise for five years. It wasn't until the past two years that the weight started to come off. I never understood why it wasn't coming off before until I looked at myself and realized that I was not working as hard as I could and I wasn't eating right.

Since I started Pilates, I have had another realization about my workout style. I am still not working as hard as I can. Pilates has given me focus on my stregnth and abilities. I decided that my arms and my legs are not going to fall off. They may hurt, but they'll still be connected. And it's ok to sweat. Real women do.

This past week, I've really taken on a new mentality while working out. Saturday, I walked 7 miles and all during this week and I've put in the work at Jazzercise.

I haven't lost weight on the scale, but I can tell that I have built more muscle and that I am toning in places that I never thought possible.

I've also tried to drink more water. I normally drink at least 64oz., but for the past week, I've been drinking close to 100oz. It really helps satisfy me and nourishes me. Water is probably the purest thing you can put in your body.

Sometimes it really is mind over matter. What are some things you tell yourself when working out?

Wishful Wednesday: Character from a Book

'I wish' .... I could play a character's role in a book and it would be Bella Swan from the "Twilight" series!

I know it's cheesy, but c'mon who doesn't want two hotties fighting over you when you're a teenager? I may be a bit more glamorous than her, but I don't think her life is so bad. Although, I may have picked Jacob. He's way hotter! But, she and Edward are a good match.

To play along in "Wishful Wednesday", visit The Seattle Smith's.

Yes, I watch a lot of television, but do you know what goes good with television? These little bad boys:
Yes, my niece, the Girl Scout, is selling these and I couldn't help myself. I would have felt so bad if I hadn't bought any, right? I only ate 3 last night and the serving size was 4. Now, I just hope cute little Girl Scouts at the grocery store don't tempt me.

2 Dogs, Movies and a Pizza Place

So, how was your weekend?

We had beautiful weather for the most part. I tried to walk outside on Friday, Saturday and Sunday because it was so nice. I ended up taking a 7 mile walk on Saturday because the weather was so nice and because Knox and Willie needed to get out of the house.

Saturday night, Fred and I went to the new Mellow Mushroom that opened up in Memphis. It was delicious. We got the Kosmic Karma (pesto, sun-dried tomatoes, tomatoes, spinach, feta cheese) pizza and added red sauce, jerk chicken, and pineapple. Amazing! The kitchen voted our pizza the best of the night!
I did my second session on pilates yesterday. It was awesome. I feel so much stronger and leaner when I finish. It's a great workout and I wish I could do it more than once a week for four weeks.

Yesterday, I went to see "Valentine's Day". It was too cute. I haven't seen a good chick flick like that in a while. Three of my boyfriends (Eric Dane, Bradley Cooper and Taylor Lautner) were in it. Definitely a movie to check out!

Here are two other cute movies to check out:

Happy Monday, all!

Hello, Yellow

Happy Friday, everyone! I am happy today because it's Friday, the sun is out and the temperature is supposed to reach 56! Yay!

For the past few days, the color yellow has been making me smile. Yellow is such a happy color. It immediately puts a smile on my face.

Yesterday, I booked us tickets to see "The Lion King" on Broadway. I am so excited! I saw it in London years ago and it was amazing. I hope Fred enjoys it.

Do you all have plans this weekend? I am just hoping to enjoy some warmer, sunnier weather. Have a great weekend!

Candyman

So, for Lent this year, I decided to give up swearing. It's not like I cuss like a sailor or anything, but I say more cuss words than I would like to. Sometimes, it's just not lady-like. Now, I don't want to be one of those people who says, "Oh, fudge droppings." But, I can say, "Awww, man!" I had a couple of little slips yesterday, but today I am doing better.

And now I have Christina Aguleria's "Candyman" song stuck in my head. Ha! Maybe I should have given up candy. Ummm...no. Maybe because I bought a bag of dark chocolate Easter M&M's. Yum! The Easter M&M's taste better. I am not sure why. Maybe it's their coloring.
Last night, Fred and I sat down and watched some of the Olympics. Have you been watching? We picked a great night to tune in! Six medals for the USA. Three gold! I love Shaun White (aka The Flying Tomato) and I think he's absolutely incredible. But, I don't want him to be my candyman. He makes everything look so easy and he's humble about it. I was really worried for the women skiers last night because of all of the falls, but Lindsey Vonn pulled through and brought home gold! Congrats Team USA!
Happy Thursday, everyone! The sun is finally shining here and it's putting me in a great mood.

30 Day Shred Update

I know I talk about Jillian Michaels' "30 Day Shred" A LOT, but it works! I can really tell a difference in the strength in my arms and abs. I can also tell that I have more endurance and stamina at Jazzercise. I recently started a Pilates class and my flexibility and range of motion has improved. I am able to do more planks and reps thanks to this dvd.

Now, I do not do it on a daily basis. I do it when I can't go to Jazzercise or Pilates. I'm on Level 3 now and I love it! I feel so powerful when those 30 minutes are up.

I've even gone back and done Level 1 using the weights for jumping jacks, kicks and such. It's things I've learned in Level 3 to make Level 1 harder and giving me a different workout.

I've only lost 3 pounds, but I can tell that I've built muscle and that's more important than the number on the scale.

Do you have any other tricks for the workouts? How are you feeling now that you've been doing the "30 Day Shred"?

In other news, I hit my 25th class of the year at Jazzercise last night! I am a little behind schedule due to snow and illness, but my next goal is to at least reach 50 classes before we leave on our anniversary trip. It's "do-able", right?

Fat Tuesday

I tried a bite of King Cake for the first time. It came straight from Haydel's Bakery in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was so yummy! I really need my sweet tooth removed. I am taking advantage of Fat Tuesday and eating bad. It's also my friend's birthday and we're celebrating by eating Mexican for lunch.
Do you guys celebrate Lent? If so, what are you giving up for Lent this year?

Jazzercise was canceled last night due to the snow. It didn't stick, but it looked like we were stuck inside of a snow globe. So, I decided to be good and do my "30 Day Shred". I'm on Level 3 and I really feel like it's made me stronger and have more endurance when I do Jazzercise. It's a great feeling.

As I mentioned yesterday, I took Knox to the vet for his yearly check-up and he got a clean bill of health. Yay! But, what surprised me was that he now weighs 12.2 pounds. I cannot believe how big he's gotten. He's all muscle. They grow up so fast!

Dream Vacations

1. Italy with Fred - I would love to take Fred to Italy. Rome is my favorite city in the world and I think he would really enjoy the history and culture. Venice is so romantic. I've been there a few times, but never with the love of my life. I think we'd have a great time.
2. Fiji - The pictures are breathtaking of Fiji. I want to stay in a little hut over the ocean. It looks so romantic and enjoyable.

Happy Fat Tuesday, everyone!!

You're Wicked Awesome

Happy Day After Valentine's! Are you all on a sugar high? I only had a piece of cake and one chocolate covered marshmallow. I am so proud. However, I did cave and buy a bag of the dark chocolate Easter M&M's. Those are the best!

Saturday, I took Knox for his yearly shots. He was such a good boy. I took him to the "puppy store" to get a treat afterward. He had the shakes that afternoon, but after we laid down, he seemed to be doing better. Now, he's back to his old self.

We had a busy day yesterday. We took my parents to the airport at 6am, came back and napped for three hours, took Fred's mom for sushi (her first time), went to Pilates and Jazzercise, took my grandfather to dinner and came home and watched "500 Days of Summer". Whew! Too bad I don't have today off.

Knox's Valentine's Treats
Knox enjoying a Valentine
Fred surprised me at Jazzercise with roses and candy! Good boy! (He said that he's learned that women love surprises and women loved to be surprised in front of other women. Ha!)
My roses, candy, and cards
Willie enjoying his Valentine's
My grandfather on Valentine's Day
The Baskin Robbins mint chocolate chip ice cream cake Fred got me. (I don't know why it posted this way).
My flowers, cards, cake and candy! What more could a girl ask for?!

I think I have the best husband in the world, thank you, Fred for making this Valentine's wicked awesome.

Happy Valentine's Day!

This will be our 4th Valentine's Day together. We're pretty low-key when it comes to this particular holiday. I know Fred bought an ice cream cake (because he can't keep a secret), but we don't really exchange presents or make a big fuss. I think our plan is to eat at Moe's Southwest Grill on Valentine's night with my grandfather (because my parents will be out of town). Moe's is having a special that if you come in on Sunday night, you can come back anytime and get that same order later in the week for FREE! Since we love Moe's, we can't pass this up!

Just a few little fun facts about our previous Valentine's:
2007 - Our first Valentine's. I actually made chicken cordon bleu for dinner. This was my first meal I made Fred.
2008 - We mailed out our wedding invitations on Valentine's Day.
2009 - We spent Valentine's with two of our friends, Mason and Kendra, and we actually celebrated Mason's birthday (the 16th) before he left to go on a trip.

We'll see what 2010 holds! What are you doing on Valentine's Day?

Chocolate

Why would Pillsbury title an email "Chocolate"? Don't they know that I am going to click on that email and see what it's all about? I think I gained 5 lbs. just looking at the pictures. Now, I want a LARGE piece of chocolate cake and a LARGE glass of milk. Just poke me in the belly when I am done. Pure evil, Pillsbury!

I don't know if it's the weather or what, but I just want to eat everything in sight. And I mean everything! The snow reminds me of ice cream. See, now I want to eat snow and make it taste like ice cream.

We might get more snow tomorrow and Sunday. I need sunshine and 80 degree weather. Our trip to Puerto Rico can't come fast enough!!!

Do you ever have these days?

Celine Returns

If you missed her when she performed on the Vegas stage from 2003 to 2007 in "A New Day", you've got another chance to see her in Vegas!

Yes, it's true, Celine Dion is returning to Vegas! I've never seen her perform live, but I can only guess how amazing she is LIVE! Did any of you see her? If so, tell me about it.

When I was in Vegas, I would have loved to have seen Celine and Love (The Beatles' Cirque du Soleil). If I ever go back, I'll defintely see those two things.

Celine's show opens March 15, 2011. So, you've got over a year to get ready for her return to the stage!

Top Two Tuesday

Top 2 Dream Jobs are....

1. Co-anchor on the "Today Show" with Matt Lauer. Meredith Vierra eat your heart out. I think they have awesome jobs. They get to interview awesome people and go to increadible places. I'd love to join Matt on his "Where In the World Is Matt Lauer" trips.

2. Soap Opera Actress on "The Young and the Restless". I know people think that these people aren't great actors, but I'd love to be on my favorite soap. I love their storylines and Victor is my favorite.

To participate in "Top Two Tuesday", head over to Jimmy Choo's and a Baby Too.

Winter Wonderland Again...

The weekend isn't over yet. This morning we woke up to 4+ inches of snow. It was a shock to everyone. So, I'm working from home again today!

Our weekend was pretty busy. On Friday, Fred and I went out for sushi. Our favorite place is Wasabi in Cordova. They have the best sushi in town.

On Saturday, my mom, a neighbor, and I went to the Helen Brett show, a jewelry and gift show. I went thinking I wasn't going to buy anything and I ended up purchasing an oil painting for our dining room. One of our friends brought by two framed drawings for our house. They were a wedding gift. He's been holding on to them for almost two years. Ha!

That night, Fred and I went to dinner with two of my friends from high school, Kendra and Mason. We took Mason out for his birthday. We always have a great time with them.

On Sunday, we got up and went to chuch. We hadn't been in a few weeks so it was nice to hear the word. When we got home, Fred cleaned out his closet and I did level 3 of the "30 Day Shred". I actually liked level 3 better than any of the other levels. I am a little sore today, but I am going to do it again since I can't go to Jazzercise. After the video, I took Knox for a walk because it was the first time in days that the sun was out. We had a few friends come over last night to watch the Superbowl. We grilled out burgers and had appetizers. Here's a pic of Knox getting in on some of the Superbowl food:
And this morning, we woke up to this:Happy Monday!

Go Colts!!

TGIF! Friday always seems like eternity when you're sick. But, luckily, I am feeling better and it's Friday. Double happiness! I might even break out the "30 Day Shred" tonight. I know Jillian has missed me.

Since I've been sick, I've found that Badger Headache Soother helps my headaches to go away. I love this stuff. I also had the neck ache the other day and it went away when I rubbed some of this on me. You should try it.
Have y'all watched "The Millionaire Matchmaker" on Bravo yet? I love that show. It comes on Tuesdays at 9pm. It's hilarious. I am in love with the show. Set your DVR's.
I don't have much planned this weekend. My mom and I are going to a jewelry and gift show tomorrow. It's fun to have "Girl's Day". And Superbowl on Sunday. This is the only game of the year that I even watch. My family doesn't do much for the Superbowl. We watch the first half order pizza for halftime and watch the second half. I usually love the halftime shows, but since Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson had the "incident", the halftime just isn't that great. Any way, I will be cheering on the Colts this year and I can't wait to see them beat the Saints. Take that "who dat" nation.

And Heather at Live.Laugh.Love. me craving some sushi right now. Maybe I'll have to squeeze that in this weekend. :)

So, are you for the Colts, the Saints or you just don't care?
