Wishful Wednesday: Easter Memory

'I wish' .... I could re-live one Easter memory from my childhood, and it would be the Easter that I could have an Easter egg hunt with my friend, Brooke!

My childhood friend, Brooke, grew up next door to my grandparents, who lived just a mile from my house. We'd always get together on Easter afternoon and our moms and dads would hide the eggs for us. We always had a great time and especially loved finding money in the eggs. Easter always makes me think of her. Now, she's a mom and she lives in Birmingham, Alabama.

I also loved waking up on Easter morning to a basket full of chocolate covered, marshmallow eggs and other goodies. When I got over to my grandparents, I'd also have an Easter basket waiting on me. Since Fred and I will miss Easter this year, my mom gave us our Easter baskets Monday night. Mine was filled with chocolate covered, marshmallow eggs and clothes for our anniversary trip. Guess not much has changed. :)

What Easter memory would you like to relive? Visit The Seattle Smith's and tell us.

The Price of Beauty Recap: India

Are you watching it yet??? Last night, Jess, CaCee and Ken traveled to Mumbai, India. They were surrounded by the beautiful colors and intricate detail that this country has to offer. They learned to dance "Bollywood" style and they were given henna tattoos and bindis for a Bollywood party they'd later attend.

But, those weren't the only lessons in Indian beauty. The trio attended a "Laughing Yoga" class where the spent the majority of the time laughing at themselves and those around them. I couldn't help but laugh at them laughing at the people. They believe laughter is great for your soul; so, what a great way to exercise your inner beauty.

After the "Laughing Yoga" class, the trio headed to a spa for some unexpected beauty regimens. They were trying Ayurveda medicine, an ancient form of alternative medicine which has been practised in India for more than 5,000 years. They poured salt water up their noses, put oil all over their hair and drink a digestive cleansing drink - which made them burp excessively.

After the fun, Jessica, who is the Operation Smile spokesperson, met with a young girl who was born with a severe cleft condition. The trio speak with the child and watch as her doctors perform the surgery. Thanks to this organization, the little girl can now have a "normal" smile. Such a great cause!

Jess and gang were amazed with the inner beauty focus of India, as was I. I loved the colors and laughter that filled the air. Again, I love the message that is being told throughout this journey: Beauty comes from within.

Here's a pic of Jess returning to the states. Did you know that a Henna tattoo can last up to 3 weeks?

Spontaneous Big Orange Road Trip

Wow! Our weekend did not turn out at all like I thought it would. After Tennessee won their Sweet Sixteen game against Ohio State on Friday, Fred and I decided to take a road trip to St. Louis to watch the Vols play in the Elite Eight. We drove up Saturday after the egg hunt, spent the night and drove back last night after the game. As you may or may not know, Fred is a former UT basketball player; so, this is a BIG deal! Here are some pics from the trip:

St. Louis Arch
Busch Stadium (home of the St. Louis Cardinals)
Pregame at Over and Under (Tennessee Vols headquarters)
Shots from the gameUnfortunately Tennessee lost, but they played a GREAT game!

And here's a picture from our neighborhood Easter egg hunt that was a HUGE success. I think we had about 30 kids.

We had a great weekend! I am sad that I did miss my sister-in-law's baby shower, but she understands and I hope she loved her presents.

I'm starting to think orange is a good color for me. So, what did you do this weekend?

Let's Get It Started

Anyway, I have a super busy weekend ahead. Here are just a few of the things I have going on:

10 Year Class Reunion Meeting - I am getting so old.

Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt - Yes, I am in charge of it!
Sister-in-Law's Baby Shower - I have to remember to pick up the petifores today. Whew! I'm tired already. And my "To-Do" list is a mile long. Next week, there won't be any rest either. It will be filled with packing and prepping for our much needed anniversary trip.

I hope everyone has a great weekend! I will post pictures on Monday!

Wishful Wednesday: Handbag

'I wish' .... I could afford this Louis Vuitton Speedy 40 handbag without putting a dent in my pocketbook!
The Speedy 35 retails for $740. It is the first ever carry-all city bag. The Speedy is a must-have for women with a love for fashion. The perfect accessory for getting around town in style whilst carrying all the essentials. I think all of that just described me.

I've loved this bag since the days of "Newlyweds" and Jessica brought "King Louie" on the camping trip. Remember that episode? I think this handbag is so classic and stylish.

It's great for an evening on the town:
Carrying it to work out:
For everyday things:
And Knox would need the matching dog carrier:
Can't you see me carrying Speedy? To participate in Wishful Wednesday, head over to The Seattle Smith's.

The Price of Beauty Re-cap: Paris, France

Did you all catch Episode 2 of Jessica Simpson's "The Price of Beauty"?

In this episode, Jess, CaCee, and Ken traveled to Paris, France. Home of fashion. Oh, how I love Paris!

When they arrived, they met with their "Beauty Ambassador", who is a commercial and runway model. She discussed the need to be thin among models and the fashion industry. She started modeling at age thirteen and was measured every single day. Any slight change in her body could have resulted in losing her job. I couldn't imagine that pressure.

After meeting with the ambassador, they decided to try some Parisian massages. Jessica got a "grape" massage where they rubbed grapes all over her body. I would love to try that. Ken bathed in a tub filled with wine. And CaCee had some other massage that looked like raisins covering her body. I would definitely try the grape massage and wine bath. Anyone know where I can get one in the States?

The trio then met with Isabelle Caro, a model battling anorexia. Isabelle once got down to about 55lbs. and doctors thought she would not survive. Jessica asked if anyone reached out to her and she said no. So sad. But, she started eating little by little and is surviving. She's made it her goal to raise awareness about anorexia in the fashion world. She is well-known for posing nude in campaign ads to raise awareness. Here's a pic of one campaign ad:It makes me so sad to see women of all ages go to the extreme to be thin. Be comfortable in your own skin and love yourself. We're all trying to look better for one reason or another, but we all need to accept ourselves and stop letting other's opinions change our perception of ourselves. Let's all just focus on being healthy.

The show ended with Jessica walking in a fashion show. Who knew she was shy? She was so scared, but she did a fantastic job. I loved her dress. Then the trio attended a photo shoot of the "average French woman". She met France's first plus-sized model who said the most beautiful thing about a woman is confidence. So true.

I really love the message that this show is trying to send. I also love looking into other cultures to see their perception of beauty.

Next week...India! Are you watching it yet??

Top Two Tuesday: Can't Live Without

Top Two Things I Can't Live Without

1. Chapstick - I have a MAJOR obsession and must have it on me at all times. If I think I don't have any, I freak and my lips start to feel chapped. I re-apply all day long.

2. My iPhone - I love it because I can listen to music, Google anything, check email and Facebook, texts, and make calls when necessary. It's my "life-line".
Non-Materialistic Thing I Cannot Live Without:

These wonderful people(dogs included)- My mom, dad, grandfather, Fred, Willie and Knox are the 6 things I cherish most in life. I love them all very much and I don't know how I could live without them. They are all my best friends. God has truly blessed me with the most amazing family.

Escape Artist

Whew! What a busy weekend! But, it was fun!

I managed to snap a few pictures of Knox playing this weekend. Isn't he cute?

See the green netting behind him on the fence? That is because he has been going underneath the fence and into our neighbors yards. Sneaky, little boy! Fred has made the backyard escape proof for now.
I was washing our matress pad and sheets and while I was folding the sheets, he managed to snuggle on the matress pad. Isn't he sweet?
Hope everyone had a great weekend! Don't forget to watch "Jessica Simpson's Price of Beauty" tonight!

Friday Fun

Since my last post was rather long, I'll keep this one short.

1. It is rumored that Miss Reese Witherspoon will be starring as The Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond.
I guess blogging can really pay off! Now, that's a movie I'd go to see! Would you see it?

2. It's official, we're heading to Ole Miss to watch the Memphis vs. Ole Miss game tonight. I am so excited! Go Tigers Go! 3. It's sunny. It's going to be 70+ degrees today. And winter comes to an end this weekend. Life is good.

Happy Friday!

Lots and Lots

I received TWO awards! I'm playing in TWO new features! And I am going to the Tigers game tomorrow night. John Mayer will understand.

I am playing in "Thoughtless Thursday" for the first time. Head over to Life in the Fulmer Lane to play.

Rules: You just post random pictures. Of whatever you want. From however long ago you want. With no 'splainin' (or if you'd like, plenty of 'splainin', which is how it tends to go with me ...) whatsoever. This picture was taken at Bid Day in 2000. I was so excited and am still proud to be an Alpha Delta Pi! I love this picture.

Second, I am horrible with awards. I am so thankful, but I am horrible at nominating people and passing it on. Sometimes I forget that people told me that they nominated me. My apologies in advance.

Thank you so much to Neely at Neely's Nothings for the "Beautiful Blogger" award. I love Neely's blog and I also follow her on Twitter.

Here are the rules:

1. Thank the person who nominated you for this award and insert a link to their blog.

Thank you, Neely! I enjoy reading your blog and Tweeting each other.

2. Pass on the award to 7 other bloggers who you think have a Beautiful Blog!

This is where I am a slacker.

3. Contact the other bloggers and let them know they have been chosen for this award.

You're all it!

4. Say 7 things about yourself.

1. My favorite non-big holiday is the beginning of Daylight Savings Time.
2. I love McAlister Deli's unsweet tea. I could drink it forever. Drinking some now.
3. Nothing tastes better than a new bottle of Fiji water. I have one on my desk now.
4. I have become obsessed with texting. I need to get unlimited texting.
5. The iPhone is the greatest invention EVER. I can call, text, web surf, tweet, facebook and do anything else.
6. I wanted to be Gloria Estefan when I was a child. Seriously.
7. I wash and dry my hair daily.

And thank you to Jen at A Girl in Pearls & A Boy with Toys for the "You're Going Places, Baby" award. Her blog is so stinking cute. She also just had a great giveaway.
The Rules for this award are:
1. Post where you want to be in 10 years
2. Pass it on to 10 of your BF (blog friends)

1. Where will I be in 10 years? I will be 37 years old. Yikes. Fred will be 38 and Knox will be 11. Hopefully, Knox will have some human brothers or sisters. Fred and I will have been married for almost 13 years. I am sure I will still be working for my dad. I hope to still have all of our family and friends, whom we treasure so much. I'll probably still live in Memphis and I'll keep blogging. Crazy how 10 years will be here before we know it.

2. I pass this award onto: Everyone! I totally slack at nominating. I feel like I leave people out or I forget to tell you about it. I am sorry.

I've also started playing in a new feature today called "Top 3 Thursdays!" over at Keeping up with Kelly!

What are your top 3 Things you like about Spring?

1. Warmer weather - I love to be outside, especially on beautiful days. And spring clothes are so much cuter than winter ones.
2. Our anniversary. It's only 2 1/2 weeks until we've been married for 2 years.
3. Time Changing - I love for it to be lighter later. I seem to get much more done.
