30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 20

Day 20 - Nicknames

"Eli"

My middle name is "Elizabeth" and for as long as I can remember, my dad has called me "Eli". I love it and if we ever had a son, his name would be "Eli".

"C"

When my mom talks to someone about me, she usually refers to me as "C". I guess it's easier than saying, "Caroline this, Caroline that".

"Big Girl"

When I was born, I weighed 5 lbs and 15 oz.; so, my grandfather decided to call me "Big Girl" and it stuck. I'll only let him call me that otherwise, I might just be offended.

"Carlonias"

In high school, this group of ladies and I had strange nicknames for each other. Somehow, mine became "Carlonias". The weird thing is we still call each other by their nickname

What are your nicknames???

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 19

Day 19 - Something you miss

Three and a half years ago, I lost my beloved grandmother to Alzheimer's. I miss her every single day.

She was wonder woman. She could cook anything! Her house was immaculate. And she could iron better than any cleaners. I wish I would have taken more time to learn it all from her before she was taken away.

She never drove and she always went to the beauty shop on Fridays. She had a heart of gold and loved and adored me!

She was the best grandma anyone could ask for and I am so fortunate to have her as MY grandmother. I was her only grandchild and she spoiled me rotten. I love her and miss her so much, but I know she's looking down on me and watching over me.

I love you, Grandma!!!

Which One is Cuter?

Every year Knox's vet does a calendar to help support one of the local animal shelters. The calendar features pictures of Dr. Kelsey's patients (dogs - he's only a canine doc). And I have until the first week of November to submit a picture (or pictures) of my "child".

Last year, Knox and his Uncle Willie were the Mr. July's. Now, I'd love for Knox to have his own month, but I'd settle for sharing with Willie. We just HAVE TO BE IN the calendar. Do I sound like a pageant mom or what?

So, I am asking you to vote for which picture you think I should submit.

So, which one do you think is calendar worthy?

Don't forget to enter my 300+ Followers Giveaway! It ends tomorrow!

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 18

Day 18 - Something you regret

I try to live a life without a whole lot of regret. I like to think the choices I made were mine and that I should accept them and learn from any mistakes. And we've all made mistakes.

I promised myself that I would be open and honest on this blog and especially with this 30 Day Blog Challenge. So, here it is...

One thing I regret is not taking control of my health sooner. In college, I ate my way through the "Freshman 15" and kept gaining about weight each year. Not really something to be proud of, but this was me. I was too busy eating, drinking, socializing, sleeping, and studying to take any interest in my health.

{sorority formal senior year}

Now, I've lost 35 lbs. since college and I can't believe I didn't do it sooner. As a college student, I had a rec center I could use for free. I had friends that would run daily and go to the gym. I had ample time to go and workout. Why didn't I jump on the bandwagon? Why didn't I see I needed help?

I knew how to workout. I even hired a personal trainer for a few months. What good was she? I guess sleep and junk food were just too great to pass up!

There's no time like the present to make a change. And daily, I find myself changing little things I do to become a healthier, more productive human being.

Better with You

The other night, Fred and I were catching up on some of our shows on our DVR. One of those shows was "Better With You" which airs on ABC. Have you seen it? So cute. I love Jennifer Finnigan (from "The Bold and the Beautiful") and JoAnna Garcia (from "Reba").

On one episode, Maddie (played by Jennifer Finnigan) was wearing these super cute dachshund pjs. And you know me, I love anything dachshund!

So, I hoped on Twitter and asked Jennifer who made those pjs. Well, last night, she responded! She said, "so cute, right? Ask me again next week when I'm back at work and I'll find out :)" Eeeek! So exciting! And she was so sweet! It makes me love her and the show even more. Thank you, Jennifer!
See, there are sweet and decent celebrities out there! Congratulations to Jennifer and cast because they got picked up for an entire season! Yay! And I am also excited to find out about these cute dachshund pjs.

In other news, I made pumpkin bread from scratch last night for the Junior League of Memphis' Merry Marketplace this week. It smelled delicious and it wasn't that hard to make.

Killer Weekend

Whew! Another great weekend has come and gone. It makes me anxious for the next weekend!

On Friday, I was reading through blogs and I came across Megan's decorated pumpkins. It inspired me to get some and decorate a little more...

Mini Pumpkins

I got the urge to paint some pumpkins. (I also got these 3 pumpkins for $3)
My leopard and dachshund pumpkins
On Saturday, I co-hosted a baby shower for my cousin
The Mommy-to-Be
The super cute cake!!!

We also had Sophisticated Punch, Raspberry Baked Brie and Spinach and Artichoke Dip.

After the shower, Fred and I had date night downtown. A few weeks ago, I was reading through Sarah's blog and I saw where they loved Wang's China Bistro. We'd never eaten there, but we had a coupon. So, we decided to step out of the box and try it...

The weather was perfect and we got to eat outside.

After dinner, we headed to our new fave frozen yogurt place, YoLo! (if you go, you must try the Blondies made by Monkey Bread Bakery)
Date night shot
On Sunday, we spent the day running errands in and out of the rain. We also managed to relax on the couch and watch this:

And dined on Zesty Spaghetti. Loved the movie and loved the meal! Click here for the recipe.

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!!

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 15

Day 15 - Bible Verse

"Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth." ~ Psalm 46:10

This passage has been my rock for quite some time now. I am one of those people who is ALWAYS busy. I have to be somewhere, do something ALL of the time! I rarely sit down and relax.

But, this verse helps keep me grounded because sometimes I just need to be still, listen and let God take over. He is the one in charge of my life, not me.

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 14

Day 14: Picture You Love

{Knox - 6 weeks old}

I love this picture because this was the day I fell in love with Knox. He was the cutest puppy in the litter and he was so sweet. I could tell he felt at home with us too.

He was too young to bring home at the time this picture was taken; so, we had to leave him for 2 more weeks. It was so hard, but we had this picture of our little boy. Isn't he a cutie?!

I can't believe my little boy is almost 2 years old!

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 13

Day 13: Goals

1. Be a better wife, daughter, granddaughter and friend - This is something I strive to do daily. Will I ever be perfect? No, but I can be better than I was before.

2. Save more. Spend less. - We always put in money to our savings account, but we should be contributing more. Who knows when you'll need a little nest egg?!

3. Cook at home more - I've been doing better, but I could do it more.

4. Take better care of my overall health - I could eat better, workout more, and workout harder. It's all possible. I just have to DO IT!

3. Pray More - I should pray more than I do and I should thank the Lord more for all that I have. We could all use a little more prayer in our lives!

I have other smaller goals that I try and work on, but these five goals are the main ones I really focus on. What are some of your goals?

Let's Get Physical

"I don't wake up and run to give me that extra boost of energy. I don't spend hours at the gym to relieve stress. And I didn't start taking yoga classes to spend even more time with my friends. The truth? I want to look good naked. Doesn't everybody?" ~Nike

I could live in workout clothes. If you're like me, you're having to go back and forth between your summer workout clothes and your fall/winter workout clothes.

I'm slowly beginning to realize that most of my fall/winter attire is too big for me; so, I did some searching and found these great things to help get me look cute while working out:

Let's Get Physical

They are all fairly inexpensive and are getting me in the mood to workout. What are some workout looks you're loving right now?
