Top 2 Tuesday: Cleaning and Organization Tips or Tricks

Top 2 Cleaning and Organization Tips or Tricks

1. Did you know that hair spray can get ink stains out of clothes and off of leather? It's just a little trick my mom taught me. Spray hairspray on ink and use your nail to scratch until stain is removed.

2. Need to purge some old clothes? Turn your to where the hook faces outward and as you wear and wash the clothing item, turn the hanger inward. Within a few months, you will see what you're actually wearing. From there, you can have a garage sale, take items to a consignment shop or donate to Goodwill.

What are some cleaning or organization tips or tricks you've learned? (I can't wait to read this!)

12 Days of Christmas: Day 8 {Least Favorite Thing about the Holidays}

Day 8: Least Favorite Thing about the Holidays

I love this time of year. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year! I love the lights, the glitter and glam and the happiness that accompanies the month of December, but I loathe....
Traffic

I hate the traffic that magically appears immediately after Thanksgiving and disappears after New Years. I mean, where have these people been hiding for the past 11 months?

Traffic is especially worse around the malls or restaurants in the Memphis area. You can't seem to go anywhere. Don't even try venturing out on the main roads during the weekends. It's literally bumper to bumper. And Memphis is known for it's fair share of bad drivers.

I am usually in the Christmas spirit, but the moment I hit traffic, I say, "Bah Humbug".

What is your least favorite thing about the holiday season?

We Gobbled It Up

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. We did. Here's a quick recap:

Wednesday: For our 4th "date-versary" we dined at Buffalo Wild Wings went to see the new Harry Potter movie! We're very simple. The movie was great and I am looking forward to the next installment. (The movie was good, but very dark. I wouldn't recommend for younger kids).

Thursday: I went to the 7th Annual "Huff N Puff" before you stuff at Jazzercise to kick of my Thanksgiving morning. I ran home, got ready and we rushed over to my parents for Thanksgiving lunch. We had a great time, but the highlight was playing "Michael Jackson: The Experience" on the Wii (my friend, Mason, brought it over). You MUST get! After lunch, we ran over to Fred's parents for Thanksgiving dinner. We had a great time with both families.

Smithwick's on Thanksgiving {don't laugh, it was raining and this was after two Thanksgiving meals}

Friday: Like I told y'all, I stay in until about noon and then I hit the stores. We found lots of great things! Everything at Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft was 40% off and I managed to score my very own "Michael Jackson: The Experience". We ended the night with a great dinner with our friends Sam and Leslie.

Saturday: Saturday was a lot like Friday. We hit up a different mall for more savings. The highlight of this day was when my alma mater, University of South Florida, beat the University of Miami in football! Go Bulls!
Sunday: We went to church and then we headed home to start decorating for Christmas. Fred was in charge of the outside and I took over the inside. I'll post some pictures later this week, but it's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas around the Smithwick house!

What did you do?

12 Days of Christmas: Day 7 {Holiday Craft/DIY}

Day 7: Holiday Craft/DIY

Last year, I attempted to make an ornament wreath, but mine didn't turn out like the one pictured above. Maybe it was my hanger. Or just maybe it was me.

I found this tutorial and I want to attempt it again this year. It's a fairly inexpensive DIY project. Have any of you tried to make this wreath?

Fred and I spent most of our day yesterday decorating the inside and outside of our house for Christmas. It's really help to put me in the Christmas spirit! Pictures to come.

What are you making this Christmas season?

12 Days of Christmas: Day 4 {Tips/Tricks to a Budget Friendly Holiday Season}

Day 4: Tips/Tricks to a Budget Friendly holiday season

We all know about the "Black Friday" ads in the paper, but I like to do a lot of my Christmas shopping online. Unfortunately, Memphis doesn't have some of my favorite stores (ex. Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Tiffany & Co.); so, I have to search for items on the web.

Recently, I found out about Ebates.com. You can register on their site and you get rebates back from your online shopping. You can also get special coupon and promotions codes. Now, you have to go through their site to get the rebate, but it's quick and easy. Even the smallest rebates can add up!

Sign up now and it's absolutely free! Be prepared for "Cyber Monday"! And you can always say that I (carolinesmithwick@gmail.com) told you about it! :) Happy shopping!

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I'm loving that tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I get to spend it with those I love. I have so much to be thankful for.
I'm loving the upcoming four day weekend. Who doesn't love a long weekend?

I'm loving that I am getting my hair re-colored tonight. (I didn't like the color from 2 weeks ago - It washed me out).

I'm loving my new Deep Purple tights from Hue. I am thinking about wearing them for Thanksgiving. I'm loving that Wii just released the "Michael Jackson: the Experience" game. (for a limited time you can get your very own sequined white glove)
I'm loving that you can get a dress similar to Kate Middleton's engagement dress at Target for $24.99.

I'm loving that my first date with Fred was FOUR years ago today! We're celebrating by going to dinner and going to see the new Harry Potter movie.
I wish all of you and your families a very Happy Thanksgiving! I am most definitely thankful for you all!

12 Days of Christmas: Day 3 {Most Meaningful/Best Gift Received}

Day 3: Most meaningful gift/best gift you've received

Whoever said it is "better to give than to receive" was not a kid! I wouldn't say this gift was the most meaningful gift I've ever received, but it certainly was one of the best Christmas' of my life!

When I was seven, I woke up to an entirely
PINK Christmas! It was like I'd died and gone to Barbie heaven. I had the Barbie Dream House, a couple of Barbies and Barbie clothes galore underneath my Christmas tree! It was like a dream come true!

As an only child, I knew EVERYTHING under the tree was for ME!!! I will never forget waking up and seeing all of that pink! It might have been the best Christmas of my life!

I would love to go back and relive this Christmas as a kid again! What was your best gift?

12 Days of Christmas: Day 2 {Black Friday/General Shopping Tips & Tricks}

Day 2: Black Friday/General Shopping Tips & Tricks

I may be the only person who stays in their warm and cozy bed on "Black Friday". I like to sleep in, get dressed, grab some lunch and venture out after everyone else has gone home to crash. You'd be surprised by the amount of people out at 2pm.

I'll also take my chances on items and wait until "Cyber Monday"!

Do you go wild for "Black Friday" or do you wait for "Cyber Monday"?

12 Days of Christmas: Day 1 {Christmas/Holiday traditions}

Day 1: Christmas/Holiday traditions

Christmas with the Smithwick's is spent driving all over town, eating and opening presents. Both of our families live in the Memphis area and split our time between the families.

Luckilly, when Fred entered the family, his family schedule and traditions fit right in with our's. It was a match made in Christmas heaven!

Here's a little breakdown of the Christmas schedule:

Christmas Eve:
12pm - Order pizza and open presents with my family
5pm - Head to my aunt's house for dinner
After dinner, head over to Fred's parents' house for presents

Christmas:
9am - Yes, Santa still comes my parents' house (don't knock it)
1pm - Lunch at Fred's aunt's house
6pm - Dinner at my parents' house

After all of the fun is over, we head home to crash!!

What is your Christmas tradition?

Lordess of the Rings

With two BIG engagements taking place this past week, I wanted to see which ring you ladies would prefer if your man asked you to marry him?

Ring #1 {Kate Middleton's ring from Prince William}

Why I love it? I love it because it's absolutely exquisite. It's a family heirloom (hello, Princess Diana wore it). Did you know that Prince Harry requested this ring after his mother's death, but gave it to Prince William to propose to Kate Middleton.

Ring #2 {Jessica Simpson's ring from Eric Johnson}

Why I don't love it? It is gold and I don't wear much gold jewelry. And I think the side diamonds are way too big to be surrounding the middle stone.

So, ladies, which one would you choose?

This is my first time participating in Jamie's "What I'm Loving Wednesday" and I am so excited!

So, here we go...

I'm loving being able to wear my new boots!

I'm loving that it's college basketball time in Tennessee! I'm a Memphis fan and Fred is, of course, a Tennessee fan!

I'm loving this OPI color: Give Me Moor! Great for the fall!

I'm loving Sugarland's "Stuck Like Glue"

I'm loving these great fall sweaters.

I'm loving that Pink and Carey Hart are expecting their first child. :)

I'm loving
that Prince William and Kate Middleton are finally engaged. They are just the perfect couple. And she's wearing Princess Diana's ring? Lucky gal! I can't wait for the royal wedding.

What are you guys loving?
