The Bye, Bye Bag

Knox is getting ready for his first airplane rideHe's learning that his "Bye, Bye Bag" is HISHe's not a fanBut, I did catch him checking it out.
Knox just has no clue that the bag is a good thing. He thinks it's torture. Do you have any tips for flying with a pet?

I would leave it out and put a treat in it every now and then, he may start liking it. Depending on how long your flight is you may want to ask the vet for some tips...like a pill to knock him out, haha.

We have these for our dogs too! Our older dog loves it! We can take him into restaurants in the bag! The younger one, HATES it!! We get drugs from the vet when we travel.

That picture of him with his head sticking out of the bag is so sad! He is looking at you like "Mom, please don't make me get in here!". Awww!!

The fact that he is intereted is a step in the right direction!

I have no advice, my pup is a total spaz and I wouldn't even think of taking him on a plane, we would both probably get kicked off - ha!

Good luck!

I love the picture with his head popping out of his bag looking at you like "why, Mommy". Too cute! I hope the flight goes well! I've never flown with a pet but I would just take lots of treats!

Cute pictures! Do they make a sedative for dogs? That'll prob be the best for him....

Wow, that bag is so much bigger than Rufus's! That's like a deluxe suite..when they gave me the measurements that were legal I was like, Oh God will I be able to fit him in it? But, that one looks nice..maybe the regulations are bigger now!
Rufus, even with sedatives that I purchased from the vet...was horrible. I've flown with him on two trips (4 flights) and it's been horrible...I feel bad and he cries and everyone looks and the flight attendants are usually super anal about keeping him under the seat. Boo! But Knox seems a lot less crazy so I hope he does well :)

I would definitenly leave it out until it's vacation time. The more he sees it and is bribed into checking it out the more he will get comfortable with it. Good luck!

Oh my goodness, we'll soon have to fly with our cats and I wish I knew tips. My sister said the vet gave her some safe sedative alternatives....

A - WTF was up with that "Boycott" Comment?
B - NEW follower - I could have SWORN I was following you already, but....
C - It wasn't that bad flying with my cat, they make some sort of "calming" spray you can use inside the carrier to ease them a little. If you get some puppy sedatives, make sure you get enough to try them out on him a few times - sometimes they have the opposite reactions with some animals (ie. they could make him SUPER hyper). But, the best thing is that he's already checking it out. Just make sure he gets a treat or something every time he goes into it. This way it becomes a "safe place" with him. And just pay him a lot of attention when you travel - talk to him, stick a hand in and pet him - just let him know you're there and you love him! Leave it out, even after you've travelled.

Hey! Don't know if you follow Kelly's Korner blog, but today and tomorrow she is doing a link up for singles. I did a post about my friend Tory here in Memphis www.smooches;uvs.blogspot.com , so if you know any singles girls/guys you want to do a post about kellly's blog is http://www.kellyskornerblog.com/2011/01/show-us-your-life-show-us-your-singles.html
Memphis girls should do this!

What we do with Batman when we leave and he has to go to his crate is reward him with a treat when he goes in there. Now he LOVES "going to bed". I'd try that!

He's so cute :)

He's so adorable. I've never flown with our pup (he's 80lbs so that wouldn't exactly work) but we did have to get him used to riding in the car so I'll give you my advice anyways. Maybe try taking him in the carrier out of your house once he's calm being inside it. That way he'll get used to the transport aspect of the whole travel day. Good luck!

Flying with a dog his size should be a breeze. No food the morning of the flight though (often times they will get sick) Easy on the water intake too (they will pee via airport floor carpet or not --lets just say personal experience hehe) DONT take them out of the bag no matter what anyone else tells you. Airport regulation states that in air, you HAVE to leave them in their bag zipped up. I have had a few ppl I know get in trouble for taking their pets out of the carrier. All it takes is for one passenger to see ya and complain then boom you get in trouble.
I do give my pup a benadryl to make her tired...The vets usually recommend this rather than them perscribing a sedative. :) Happy travels!

Your dog is such a freaking cutie!!! My best advice for flying with a pet... keep him out of the carrier as much as you can going through security and waiting at the gate. That way it minimizes the time their in the confined space.
