Top 2 Tuesday: Things You've Learned from Your Parents or Grandparents

Top 2 Things You've Learned from Your Parents or Grandparents

1. Marriage DOES Work: My parents have been married for 34 years and my grandparents were married for 52 years before my grandmother passed. Fred's parents have been married for almost 40 years. We are so blessed to have parents and grandparents who've stayed together this long. It's an encouragement to Fred and myself.

2. Honesty: I believe in honesty 100%. My parents have always taught me that it's better to be honest on the front end and take the consequences from there. Sometimes, I think I'm a little too honest. Nothing good ever comes from lying (and I am a terrible liar)!

I agree with posts things you learned from your parents/grandparents! my parents have been married for 30 years (their celebrating in Hawaii this weekend ha) and although have their moments- they still love one another. Ohhh and of course 100% honesty is SO important to a great marriage/relationship! xoxo

That's so awesom!! What great role models. My parents divorced, but my step-dad (who is also my godfather and my mom's best friend from high school...) has taught me so much--namely to marry your best friend! They are so happy together and it makes my heart just about explode to see them together.

And, I am an awful liar. Awful. It makes me feel terrible!

Your parents are so cute! I love when couples make it work! Both mine and BTB's parents are married and love each other after all these years and we love it! And BTB's grandparents just celebrated 57 years together.. it just warms my heart!! :)

Your parents are adorable, and I think it is so important to remember that marriage can work, especially when you are married to the right person. Too many people jump the gun and/or just give up (in my opinion). :)

Isn't it great to have good examples of marriage? I think it's awesome when couples work through the hard times. I haven't ever heard one of them say they regret any of it!

My first few years of marriage were rocky but I never gave up. I think reason being is that I saw throughout the years how much love my parents had for one another. They were my proof that a lasting marriage was possible. 12 years later I'm so glad I did not give up. I have a wonderful husband, 2 beautiful children & I am VERY happily married!!! I loved this post :)

my grandparents had their golden anniversary about 10 years ago. My grandfather just passed away this year it broke my grandmothers heart. It was always clear that they loved each other. Honesty is the key to a stable relationship and to a saine mind.
Love the post

This is so encouraging! My parents have been married almost 25 years and Robbie's for 31! All the grandparents are/were married many many years as well! It's so nice to hear of people happily married instead of hearing about divorce all the time!

P.S. Your mom is soo gorgeous!

Your parents are so cute! I think is so great to have your parents and grandparents as marriage role models. My parents have been married 28 years and my grandparents have been married for for 64 and I know having their example has definitely given me a lot of faith in marriage.

I agree on both of these! Marriage totally works and being honest is always better in the long run, rather than getting caught up in lies! Like you, I am a bad liar!!
