The Big Blow Out

Happy Friday, everyone. I haven't updated you guys about our quest to expand our family in a little while, but there hasn't been much going on.

The Clomid didn't seem to be working for me and I was having a terrible time with pain. So, Fred and I talked it over and informed my doctor that we have decided to forgo the medicine this month and for me to have a hysterosalpingogram (HSG).

It is a procedure where they basically blow out your fallopian tubes. This way any blockages or scar tissue from last year's surgery will be removed.

On Tuesday, I will be admitted to the hospital for an outpatient surgery. (The hospital has already called and wanted to make sure I had my deductible money ready for Tuesday. Nice, huh?)

I'm a little nervous about the pain from the procedure, but I really won't know anything until it is over. I am praying that this "blow out" will do the trick, but I know God has a plan.

If you've had this, can you give me any pointers? Or an idea of what to expect?

It feels like a new chapter in our journey and I am excited to see where it goes.

I hope this procedure means GOOD news for you and Fred! You guys will get your baby, and I hope this makes it happen! You two deserve it! Praying all goes well on Tuesday!

Praying for your procedure, and that it's quick, painless, and knowledge that it's worth it all in the end. I know how badly you and Fred want this, and you're right, God does know when the time will come for your family. Just keep praying (which I know you already are). Thinking of you girl!

Love the 2 verses at the end! James 1:17 we have in both of the girls' rooms!

You guys are in my thoughts and prayers ... and PS, I giggled at "blow out." :)

I had my HSG in March--don't fret over it. I seriously worked myself into a "tizzy" before my procedure from all the unknowns. It literally lasted for several minutes, and ended up being no big deal. I had mild period-like cramps afterwards. You got this, sista!! :) Continuing to pray for God's perfect timing for y 'all!

I had this done and the anticipation is very much the worst part of it. I worked myself into such a mess that I couldn't relax and I think that made it worse. However, they will give you the good drugs. ;) It's not fun by any means and you'll be sore, and have cramping for a few days, but it's not the worst ever. Good luck girl. Hope it gives you some answers.

I had it done and heard good and bad before I went in. I have a high pain tolerance and figured it wouldn't be bad. Well, mine was very painful. I'm not trying to scare you but just being honest. But, others who have it done have no pain or very little. I would HIGHLY recommend taking extra strength tylenol before you go in. The hospital didn't get me any drugs and I really don't think anyone else I know got any either. It's very quick so even if it bothers you a little bit, it will be over VERY soon. Mine turned out fine and I'm hoping for the same for you!!!!

Ask your dr.'s office if you can take a Tylenol beforehand. My dr.'s office let me. It was mainly just very uncomfortable during certain parts of the procedure for me, but I am sure everyone is different. You'll possibly have some cramping afterward. I'm so glad that you're getting closer to answers and narrowing down what's going on! I told Dr. Ke about you when I met with him Tuesday. He's looking forward to meeting you!

I never had the procedure, but a friend of mine did. She conceived right away. She has three healthy children.

The whole "getting pregnant" thing can be so stressful. I had so many complications (5 miscarriages), but eventually ended up with my one and only son. I consider him to be my "miracle baby."

Consider this a little "bump" in the road. It will all be worth it.

Thinking of you...

Hang in there!

The procedure is not painful. It's uncomfortable, but it is very very quick. I did have some painful cramps several hours later, but nothing that over the counter meds couldn't handle. AND I only paid a portion of my deductible the day of, and I was never billed the full deductible amount. Think about it! Praying for you friend.

Good luck with the procedure! I hope that this will do the trick for you also. My husband and I are going to start trying as soon as he returns from his deployment and it scares me to think of all the reasons why it possibly couldn't happen. But I just have to hope for the best and know that it is in God's hands! Take care! God Bless you both on your journey!

Hey i just found your blog. I had a HSG in February. I totally understand what you are going through. We have been doing infertility treatments for over a year. Just want you to know that you have someone who can share in your frustration with wanting a family and know that I will join you in prayer for God to bless with you a child.
