The Royal Wedding

TODAY is the BIG day! The royal wedding is finally upon us! Are you excited?! Here are some fun "Royal Wedding" tidbits I've recently learned....
• Dr. Rowan Williams will officiate the wedding. He was the officiate of Prince Charles & Princess Diana’s wedding among several other royals.

• William will receive a new title on his wedding day. Up for grabs is Dukedom of Sussex or Duke of Cambridge. Either way, Queen Elizabeth will determine his new name. The decision will be made by 8:30am on the day of their wedding.

• They will get married at the Westminster Abbey and the Queens’ reception will be at Buckingham’s Palace around 1pm.

• Prince Harry will serve as the best man.

• Kate’s engagement ring was Princess Diana’s.

• Will proposed to Kate in Kenya, Africa.

• Pippa, Kate’s sister will serve as the Maid of Honor.

• Will’s friends will not get to be Ushers at the wedding. Instead, a group of 10 men will be paid to do so. This is a tradition that dates back to the 15th century.

• Kate must pick a lady-in-waiting once she is married. This lady will travel with her and attend official engagements with her. It is likely she will choose her sister.

• Kate will arrive at Westminster Abbey in a Rolls Royce but leave in a horse drawn carriage with her prince. The carriage will be covered or uncovered depending on the weather.

• The night of wedding Prince Charles will host a private party but Will & Kate will not be in attendance.
• At 1:30pm Will & Kate will (hopefully) follow the tradition of stepping out on the Buckingham Palace balcony for a kiss.

• Will & Kate have chosen a four bedroom farmhouse in North Wales to call home after they get married.

• A Bachelorette party in England is called a Hen.

• The prince does not wear a wedding band on his left hand. Instead, they wear a small band on their pinky finger. Will has chosen not to have a ring.

• Will & Kate will not write their own vows. Instead, they have to pick one of the two traditional sets of vows found in either the 1662’s Book of Common Prayer or Book of Common Worship.

• As of April 29th, Kate will be an HRH - Her Royal Highness

• The rules of curtsying for HRH…
As the wife of the future King, Kate will rank second on the pecking order, as long as she is physically with William at royal gatherings. Therefore, Princess Anne, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and a dozen other ladies will rank below her and should curtsy to her.

However, if she is not with her prince, Kate will drop at least four places in the order, and Princesses Anne, Beatrice, Eugenie and Alexandra will outrank her. Kate will always, of course, curtsy to Queen Elizabeth.

• Kanye West is on the guest list, as well as, David and Victoria Beckham, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, the sultan of Brunei, the emperor of Japan, and kings of Malaysia, Tonga, and Thailand.

• When William and Kate walk down the aisle on April 29th. Kate will be 29, making her the oldest royal bride EVER. (Most royal brides in history have typically been teenagers. Even William's mother, Princess Di, was barely 20 years old when she married his father, Prince Charles.)

• Kate wants to be called by her given name, Catherine, and not by her nickname, Kate.
Special thanks to G at The Holmes Home for many of these tidbits.

If only I could be a fly on the wall for the festivities...

What aspect of the wedding are you most excited to see?

I Want to Be Like Britney

Yep, you read that right. I want to be Britney Spears! Not because she's super gorgeous (minus the fake hair and trashtastic clothes) or because she's worth millions, but because of her recent will power. Seriously, who knew?!

Earlier this week, I found out that my beloved chocolate chip cookie from McAlister's Deli was 340 calories. On a good day, I'd only eat 1/2. But, really, do I need that cookie? No. Yes. No.

If Brit can do it, I can do it. Check out this letter written to her. It's too funny!

{article from here}

Hey Britney Spears,

You say you DON'T want to lose control (calorically speaking), and lady, we TOTALLY feel that. We love that on your upcoming tour, you've banned junk food, essentially imposing a restraining order on cookie dough ice cream, along with hot dogs and pizza. You're basically declaring some of our favorite foods "toxic." It's you against the music against a meat lover's pizza against cheesy breadsticks. Britney Spears, you are JUST LIKE US! If we're within a nautical mile of cookie dough ice cream, we start getting the vapors. Sometimes we skip the rice aisle at the supermarket because just seeing Uncle Ben's name reminds us of JERRY, and suddenly we're bringing three empty cartons of ice cream to the cash register. (Don't laugh, dear reader. You KNOW you've done it too.) We've also been known to buy a cylinder of the Pillsbury stuff straight up with all the intent in the world to bake it, until we get one whiff and of the open package and proceed to consume half of it before anyone's noticed, just narrowly avoiding salmonella. UGH. WHY DO THEY MAKE RAW COOKIE DOUGH SO DELICIOUS!??!

HOOOO boy. Where were we? RIGHT, you've effectively declared those goodies DTY (dead to you), and we're impressed with your outta sight/outta mind diet regimen. And isn't the acronym WWBD (What Would Britney Do) the mantra we should all be following? IT IS). Maybe we can go together to test out Slimmons Studio for some light cardio together? I'll listen to my iPod chock-full of Britney and you can listen to your inner monologue (same thing)?

Yours in fitness and celery stix,

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I'm loving my sweet child, Knox. Isn't he so cute? I love when he's out "tanning".
I'm loving that the Memphis Grizzlies are now 3-1 over San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

I'm loving that the Beale Street Music Festival is this weekend! It's a 3-day long music festival featuring bands like STP, Mumford & Sons, Cee Lo Green, MGMT, Jason Mraz, Cage the Elephant, Ke$ha, Manchester Orchestra, John Mellencamp, etc.
I'm loving that William and Kate are getting married in TWO days! I can't wait to see all of the royal wedding. Doesn't every girl dream of marrying her prince? (Luckily, I found mine and married him in our own fairytale wedding.)
I'm loving this video of Carrie Underwood singing "How Great Thou Art". **chills**

I'm loving all of my blog followers. I am ONE follower away from 500! Thank you all so much! (and you never know when I might be hosting my next giveaway -- stay tuned)

Tail Wagging Tuesday: Where Your Pet Sleeps

This is my first time to participate in CMae's "Tail Wagging Tuesday". What better way than to brag about our child, Knox?

Today's topic is "Place Your Pet Sleeps". Knox sleeps in our bed, but it's really more like we get to sleep in his bed.

I know, I know. He should sleep in a crate or on a doggie bed, but he's just too cute to tell him no. We didn't even try letting him sleep anywhere else.

Here's a pic of how a typical night at our house looks:
So where does your child pet sleep?

Easter 2011

Hi! I hope all of you had a fabulous Easter weekend. We had a great weekend with ourselves and our families.

Easter is another one of those holidays where we spend all day running around town visiting with family. We started out with an amazing church service followed by brunch at the country club with my family.

After brunch, we headed home for a quick change and then to my parents' to open our goodies from the Easter Bunny.

We then loaded up and headed to my aunt's house. We arrived just in time for the Easter egg hunt. :) We left around 4:30pm and had to be at Fred's aunt's at 6pm. We had just enough time to do our Sunday chores before celebrating again. Overall, we had a great, but busy day spent with the ones we love.

I don't think I ever want to eat again. I think Lent should start now. I definitely need a sugar detox. So, what did you do?

Easter Weekend 2011

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend. I hope that each of you get to spend it with the people you love.

We've pretty much got a low-key weekend ahead with church and lots of time spent with our families on Easter Sunday! I'll be back with a full weekend re-cap on Monday!

Happy Easter!

This is my Easter candy addiction. Forget the Cadburry eggs. Just give me M&M's. They seriously taste better than any other M&M's all year round!

Thankful Thursday

*I'm not sure why this didn't most this morning when I told it to. Ugh!

I am so thankful for Jesus dying on the cross to save all of us from our sins. With Easter this weekend, it serves as a reminder for the ultimate sacrifice.

I am so thankful for my wonderful family. I have been blessed with an amazing husband, mother, father, grandfather, pup, and brother pup.

I am thankful for sunny days because they seem to take all of my cares away.

I am thankful for all of my blog readers. You all are such amazing women! Never forget that.

What are you thankful for? Link up and tell us.

Top 2 Tuesday: Things You Collect

Top 2 Things You Collect

1. Matryoshka "Russian" dolls: A matryoshka doll, or babushka doll is a Russian nesting doll which is a set of dolls of decreasing sizes placed one inside the other. I've loved these little dolls since I was a child. I only have about six of them, but I'd like to collect more. I've been fortunate enough to get some of them while traveling overseas, but I've never actually gotten one from Russia.

2. Hallmark Keepsake Eskimos: Every year, I have to have the little Eskimo Hallmark ornament for my Christmas tree. These have always been my favorite ornaments and I always order one. I have a mini-white tree and I'm trying to get enough of these to fill up the entire tree and then it'd be my Eskimo Christmas tree. :)

What do you collect? Visit The Undomestic Momma and tell us!

Rajun Cajun

Monday, why do you always come around so quickly? I hope all of you had a great weekend.

On Saturday, we were invited to a crawfish boil. It was an interesting experience for me because anytime I see a head on an animal that I am about to eat, I freak. But, I was a big girl and peeled my own crawfish and it was actually really good and spicy!
Crawfish, anyone?

little buddy Fred sucked the juices out of the head - YUCK!

And Sunday was my dad's birthday. We went to church, took him out to lunch, and grilled out for his birthday dinner.

He has to have a Baskin Robbins cake roll for his birthday! And here's my dad being goofy while blowing out the candles!

And another great thing about the weekend was that we got to spend some time with our child! He's still mad that we left him.
We had a great weekend with our families and getting caught up on some of the household duties that were neglected while we were away. Fun, right?!

What did you do?
