Wednesday What-Nots

If you thought you heard about it snowing in Memphis Monday and Tuesday,  you don't need to have your ears checked.  Yes, we had snow.  Granted it didn't stick to the roads or sidewalks, but it did indeed snow.  See?

I am so proud of Tim Tebow standing up for Jesus Christ and sticking to his beliefs in his most recent interview. There aren't many "celebrities" who would do that.
"my relationship with Jesus Christ is that it is the most important thing in my life. So any time I get an opportunity to tell him that I love him or given an opportunity to shout him out on national TV, I'm gonna take that opportunity. And so I look at it as a relationship that I have with him that I want to give him the honor and glory anytime I have the opportunity. And then right after I give him the honor and glory, I always try to give my teammates the honor and glory."

Such a class act.

Did you watch 2011 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show last night? Love the fun, bright colors and I think I need to become a resident at the gym!
How cute are Adam Levine and his VS Angel girlfriend, Anne Vyalitsina?

I also discovered that Pure Barre has an iPhone app now!  So excited.  It's $0.99 and it'll give you location information for Pure Barre's around the country.  Pretty cool, huh?

I am just so excited to see the Christmas tree lighting in Rockerfeller Center tonight!  It's just so magical!

We had a slight hiccup in our trip to Rome this week, but we were able to move our trip up a couple of days and now we leave ONE week from TODAY!  So excited! {more on the whole ordeal later}

And I want to send out a special thank you to Jamie at Designs by Jamie K. for this absolutely beautiful blog makeover.  She rocks!  I told her I wanted chic with pink, gray and yellow and voila!  If you need a new background or want a button, please see Jamie.  She's wonderful! Thank you again, Jamie!

So, what's going on this week?

It's Christmas Time

I am one of those people who feel like I can't break out the Christmas movies, cds or decorations until after Thanksgiving.  But, now, it's time.

These are my Christmas season MUSTS:

I have to watch my favorite movies, which happen to be Christmas movies at least ten times once.

I've gotta hear some "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays"  (don't laugh)...

I'll always love Mariah's version of "All I Want for Christmas"....

I'm adding a little Michael to my collection this year...

I love singing along to Jessica's "Mary, Did You Know?"

And a Starbucks peppermint hot chocolate can always put a smile on my face!
What are your Christmas season MUST Have's?

Let's Talk Turkey & Other Things

I hope you all had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving weekend.  Our two Thanksgivings were delicious and time well spent with family and friends.  We are so blessed.  Here are some pics of our Thanksgiving:

Knox said "Too much turkey = one sleepy puppy!"

On Black Friday, we woke up late, took Knox for a long walk, and ventured out to do a little shopping.  It really wasn't too bad and we got the things we really needed.  I just don't do the midnight or 4am thing.  I like my sleep WAY too much!

Saturday, we had lunch with friends and then headed out to run some of the errands we didn't finish Friday.

And Sunday, it started to look a lot like Christmas around the Smithwick house...

just a little taste of the dachshund Christmas decorations
and I made these letters to hang in our breakfast room.

And while we were decorating, another Pinterest find, Angel Chicken, was cooking in the crock pot.  Yum!

So, how did you spend the weekend?

Plenty to Be THANKful For: Black Friday and Leftovers

Manic Mother

I’m THANKful For Black Friday and Leftovers!

So, I'm not the crazy, Target lady when it comes to Black Friday, but I do leave my house.  And I do love her!

I really don't even check out the ads.  We usually go out to lunch and then run our errands and if Black Friday leads us to some great deals, then so be it.  This year, I'm proud to say that I am almost done with ALL of my Christmas shopping.  So, I might just treat myself to some Black Friday deals.  :)

And leftovers, yuck!  Let's move on from the turkey and dressing!

Are you a Black Friday shopper?  And do you like leftovers?

Plenty to Be THANKful For: Special People in My Life

Manic Mother

I’m THANKful For the Special People in My Life!

I am so thankful for my husband.  I love him more than words could ever express.  He is my rock and my everything.  He lifts me up when I am down and makes me want to be a better wife, dog mother, daughter, friend and person.

I am thankful for my parents.  They've taught me so much about love, marriage, kindness, support and life.  They are such great role models.  I always look to them for encouragement and advice.

I am thankful for Fred's parents.  Without them, I wouldn't have the love of my life.  That is the greatest gift they could have ever given me.  They are wonderful, loving people.

I am so thankful for my grandfather(pictured with my mom and Willie).  He is such an amazing man who has taught me so much about love and life.  His famous saying, "In 50 years, this won't matter."  He can always put a smile on my face.  He's the best grandfather ever!

I am also thankful for my brother, Willie!

I am so thankful for Knox.  He's the best pup and he's taught me what it's like to have to care for another "person".  He's full of so much energy, love and fun!

Which special people are you thankful for?

Plenty to Be THANKful For: Thanksgiving Traditions

Manic Mother

 I’m THANKful For Thanksgiving Traditions!

Thanksgiving in our family is an all-day extravaganza!  We wake up late, watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and get ready for our two feasts.  We start off with Thanksgiving lunch at my parents house around 12pm, stuff ourselves and then head to Fred's parents' house around 7pm and do it all over again.

I actually feel bad at Fred's family's Thanksgiving because I usually don't eat a lot since I'm still stuffed from my family's Thanksgiving. But I still pig out (or is it turkey out?!)

But if the night ends early (and we can push ourselves away from the table), we try and go to see a movie since our 1st date was on Thanksgiving 5 years ago! Who knows, maybe this year, we'll hit Target and Macy's at midnight!  :)

What are your Thanksgiving Traditions?

Back to the Future

I can't believe Thanksgiving week is upon us! We had a great weekend to kick off what I hope to be a great week.

Friday night, we went with Leslie and Sam to see "Breaking Dawn Part 1". It was so good. I'm so excited for Part 2.

Saturday night, we celebrated Laura's 30th Birthday with an 80's themed party.  We had a little too much fun getting ready for the party!  Here are some pics:

{look at our hair}

{me, Laura, Fred, Sam and Leslie}

And we spent much of Sunday running errands and knocking out a lot of our Christmas list!  We both felt so productive and rewarded ourselves with another Downtown Dining Week meal at Itta Bena

We dined on:

CHOICE OF APPETIZER:
Traditional Salad Wedge

CHOICE OF ENTREE:
Shrimp & Grits

DESSERT:
Warm Chocolate Brownie with Ice Cream

Yum!  We will definitely be visiting Itta Bena again!

So, what did you do this weekend?
