Going Green

I don't know if it was peer pressure or my recent attempt to get healthier, but I tried the infamous GREEN MONSTER
I started off with Neely's recipe mainly because I had all of the ingredients:

2-3 cups of spinach
1 banana
2-3 strawberries
3/4 cup of milk (skim)
Truvia (omitted because I don't use artificial sweeteners)
ice

The result...
After blending everything together, it wasn't bad.  It was just like a fruit smoothie and you couldn't even taste the spinach, but it was missing something.  I decided that it needed a little more sweetness; so, this is where I added in some cookies n' cream protein powder.  I got the idea from Kelsey's drink.  And let me tell you, that was good!

I don't know that I will drink this EVERY. SINGLE. MORNING., but I do like the fact that you get in at least 3 different kinds of fruits and veggies, some protein, and good fat.

Have you tried the GREEN MONSTER?  If not, will you?

LOVE green monsters! My favorite one doesn't even turn out green, though. 1 cup of frozen blueberries, 1 frozen banana, lots of spinach, a dollop of yogurt (sometimes), and water! I use water instead of milk to cut back on extra calories.

I have been making these every morning. The only thing I do different is I sometimes use almond milk and I add a little greek yogurt to thicken it and add some protein!! Yummy!!

I really want to try this! A lot of recipes I have read call for peanut butter and a spoon full of greek yogurt.

I use almond milk. I think that makes it sweeter. I also like to add in some frozen blueberries. It makes it a nasty color, but it is so good!

I like the green monsters too! I go in little stages where I drink them often... maybe I'll have to go pick up some spinach. :)

I make my own version of this, and it tastes like deliciousness.

Handful of spinach
1 scoop protein powder (all natural)
1/3 cup of nonfat plain yogurt
1/4 cup orange juice
1 banana
5 strawberries or peach slices

Super healthy and tasty too!

Peer pressure did it!!! Yayyyyy do glad you tried it. I'm just impressed in the nutrients from massive spinach that are easily deinkable. And I ran out of protein and Gabe said the drink just wasn't the same ...

My hubs drinks a spinach smoothie every morning. He loves them. They actually taste good and not anything like they look, haha!

If you need some sweetness add orange juice. Matt always puts about a cup or so in his mix. =)
