Wine and Dine

Another weekend has come and gone.  Why do they go so fast?  One of my BIG motivators is that we will be in Vegas this time next week.  I can't wait!

On Friday, we went to dinner at a local Thai restaurant and then to see The Hunger Games.
Let me preface this with, I have NOT read the books.  But, I was not impressed with the movie.  Fred has read the books so I knew a bit about what I was watching, but I thought they could have done a little more with it.  Jennifer Lawrence is great, but the movie itself was a little lack luster.  I hope if you saw it or are going to see it, that you like it much better.

On Saturday, we attended a wine tasting for the Memphis Area Alumnae Panhellenic Association. We had fun sampling wines from all over the world.

Each sorority was in charge of bringing a few appetizers and a table decoration for the country they were assigned.   The ADPi's were assigned Germany so we had pretzels, cheese and sausage and German meatballs.  We also had a fabulous centerpiece complete with beer, pretzels and a dachshund!

And to cap off another fun weekend spent with beautiful weather, we had a cookout with my parents.  So yum!
So, how did you spend your weekend?

Vegas! Love it!

Girl, I totally thought "If someone hadn't read the book, they probably won't like this movie" about the Hunger Games. Seriously. Here's the deal. It's good, but it's an adaptation of the book. If I hadn't read the book, I wouldn't know as much about tyhe characters, etc. In the book, you learn a lot more about the tributes and their characters.. plus about the districts and their plights. It's just a lot deeper than the movie allows for since it's just a movie. Read book two and see what you think. Or heck, read book one and see what you think. It will give you brand new perspective on it! Or maybe it wont. haha.. but, that's my wishful thinking! ;)

Fun weekend!

I of course love all the books, I thought the movie was good, but I didn't love it. There was just no way to get all the information and portray the relationships the way the book does. I think you should read the books and see what you think :)

Aww, I LOVED The Hunger Games! I've read all the books, though. What did Fred think? I pretty much agree with everything Jax said above about not knowing as much about the characters if you haven't read the books and missing the depth that the book has time to go into.

I enjoyed the movie but the action made me a little dizzy!

I read the books so I'm glad you gave the perspective from someone who HASN'T read them. I feel like they left a lot of tiny details out that I can fill in the blanks. Someone who hasn't read the books wouldn't really follow as well.

I read the books and really liked it, but I can see how it was confusing to someone who didn't read. Lots of details were missing! Looks like a fun weekend you had here! Loving your blog :)

is saw hunger games too. I thought it was good EXCEPT that the way they filmed it - all jostly and crap - made me SO nauseous. I definitely got "sea-sick" off it!

Yes, the weekend went by WAY too fast. Sounds like you had a great one, though! I got back in town from NYC Thursday night, had a meeting downtown all day Friday...and I have no idea where the next two days went. Got to spend some quality time with Brent, so that was nice. But I'm back out of town until Friday. It never ends. But thankfully so. :)

I loved The Hunger Games but I think it's because I read the book. I'm sad that you didn't enjoy it :(.
