Thursday Training: My 2nd 5K

Before Vegas, I ran in my second 5K.  I hadn't planned on doing this particular 5K, but it was on Sunday afternoon and it was for a great cause.  Basically, it really just fit my schedule.

It was a blazing afternoon and the course wasn't clearly marked, but I just kept running.  And to my surprise, I finished 1st in my age group with a time of 27:02.  I could not believe it.

My main goal was to beat my previous 5K time of 28:30.  And I DID IT!

I was hot.  I was tired.  And I had not run with this particular playlist, but I finished FIRST
my parents and I were there supporting me
Fred, Mason and I after the race - they both finished in the top 4 in their age group
I was the person in January who could not run a full mile without stopping.  This is proof that you can do anything you put your mind towards.  You just have to do it!

Now, on to the next 5K or two and the 10K in May...

This is awesome!!! I can't run a mile without stopping right now...do you think the Couch25K will help, I was thinking of starting it once it got a little warmer here. Also...do you take any supplements before or after your run? (energy, or protein or anything??)

Awesome, congrats! I JUST (minutes ago) registered for my first 5K (on June 2) and my training begins TODAY. I cannot run a mile...not even close to it. I HATE running. But my SIL has talked me into it and I really NEED to do it. Love your running outfit!

I just found your blog recently and have been enjoying it! I love your running stories since I run as well. I do have a sort of odd questions though. I am running my longest distance coming up in June. I have a 6.9 leg in our marathon relay team. In my training for longer distances I have been having trouble keeping my underwear in place. Do you recommend any particular undergarments or shorts for longer distances?
