Top Knot

Now that my hair is long, I keep trying to find new and different ways to style it. I know the "bun" is not new, but someone is always reinventing it and making it cuter.

My everyday bun is sitting on top of my head when I roll out of bed and get to working out.  It's not a pretty sight.

Here are some of my favorite buns out there right now:
If only my hair would stay up like this all day....

Do you have any tips for creating the perfect bun?

I tried the sock bun - failed at it.. love buns too though.. I did a half french braid into a messy bun the other day. Probably by fluke!

I totally rock the super messy, top of head, pile of hair bun on a regular basis...I wish I was talented enough to make pretty buns!

there is a good video tutorial on thesmallthings.com for a cute, neater bun that I really like!

Sometimes I sprinkle a bit of baby powder in my hair and brush it through before doing a top-knot bun like these. My hair is really long and pretty heavy and I find that the powder gives it a little bit more "grip" and it stays much better.

My tip is don't look in the mirror when u do it. Mine come our better and more 'messy' looking when I don't look.

I can't get mine to stay up. I need someone to just come do my hair and makeup. I'm no good at it!

Have you tried the Goody hair screws (in the hair accessories aisle with the rubber bands)? They are AMAZING!

I too love the buns out there. Unfortunately the "natural" look probably took a stylist an hour. I leave myself about 10 hair minutes in the morning:) You have perfect hair for these styles, and your hair is so long now!
