Do Oranges Have More Fun???

On Tuesday, I went for my annual fall hair appointment.  Before going, I knew I wanted this same look (blonde on top with a darker bottom for fall). I did want to change it up a bit and make the top a little lighter (Carrie Underwood-ish), but something went horribly wrong because I do NOT look like this.
I look like this.  Not happy.  See exhibits.
Exhibit one:  Do you see my hairline?  It's white!
Exhibit two:  Do you see orange?  I do.  I told her when I left the salon that I saw orange, but she said it was the light and that it would fade.

I came home, washed it in violet shampoo and it was still orange.  I called back and she said it would fade.  Ok, let's try this again.
I washed it.  Still orange.
I called back and I am getting it fixed this morning.  Hopefully, I'll leave with beautiful blonde locks and this orange phase will all be a dream.

Have you ever had a hair nightmare??

Girlfriend I totally feel you! I've left the salon in the past convinced my hair was orange and they tried to talk me into the "it will fade" thing, too. They didn't leave the color in long enough.

I have had a nightmare situation - I was leaving to move to Germany at 7pm, so I made a hair appointment at 8am to get one last color since I didn't know how I'd do it in Germany. Well, when I came home my husband said "umm, did you ask to have your hair dyed pink?" I checked every single mirror in my house. He was right. I called the salon and told them they absolutely had to fix it before we left the country. They gave me the same run around that it was the lighting, it would fade. I went back down there, where she put in toner which faded within the first week of living in Germany. Over there they told me that my hair was so damaged that it had to be cut off. So, my hair was cut to an inch above my chin. It was terrible!!!!!!! I am wishing you lots of luck and I hope you post a happy update soon!

Yeah def orange. Glad you pushed to make her fix it till you love it!! I got a cut earlier this year and she did a hack job, it was awful and the only way to fix would have been to cut 5+ inches off so I suffered through it!

Being unhappy with your hair is the worst. Hopefully you get it back to the color you want!

Oh no! I absolutely hate when the stylist messes up my hair but I'm usually too shy to speak up. Good for you getting it taken care of!

Oh no! I see the orange too, glad they are fixing it for you!

I went for a root touch up on my highlights, paid $120 and my roots were the same length. I called and they agreed to fix it for free - as they should!

Oh gosh, I couldn't imagine! My fear for someone messing up like that is exactly why I've never died my hair. Good luck and hope they fix it perfectly.

This has happened to me but not by a professional!! About 10 years ago I let my best friend put highlights in my hair... She had been doing her own hair for a few years so I thought it would be safe for her to do mine... BIG MISTAKE!!! My hair turned school bus yellow... And my dark roots were showing!!! I looked like trailer trash.... I was crying, my friend was laughing, my mom was also laughing and taking pictures!!! At the time I worked at a local mall and I was scheduled to work the next day at 9am... It was 6pm the night before and I knew I couldn't go to work like that so I called my hair guy. He told me I was stupid for letting my friend do that but he would stay late at work that night to fix it for me! I didn't leave his shop until a little before 10pm! But my hair was fixed! He was a lifesaver!!! And that was one of the last times I ever colored my hair! Never again!

First, I love your hair curled like that! Second, HOW ANNOYING!

I tried dying my own hair platinum blonde in high school and the color it came out wasn't even a color...it was some weird neon combo of blonde, orange & white, with patches of dark hair where I apparently didn't get the dye. Needless to say I've been getting my hair professionally colored ever since.

Oh No! I have a similar story from my hair appointment last weekend. I wanted to go a little darker for the fall by adding in more honey blonde and light copper colors instead of my usual light blonde highlights. I did this last year with the same stylist and it turned out great. Well, this time, the light copper color turned VIOLET! Like purple. My colorist noticed it first (luckily) and she wanted to redo it. So I sat there for another hour while she covered it in brown. I wanted honey blonde and now I have dark brown!

I've had so many!
I once had low-lights that were too "warm" & turned red.
I've had orange hair, green hair (summer + chlorine + dye = green hair), & yellow hair.

I also had a woman cut in "light layers" which left me with 2 layers. A visible top one & the bottom of my hair. I had to get almost 6 inches taken off & was so mad.

They'll be able to fix that quickly though!

I swear I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago, my hair was so orange and I had NO roots :-( So I feel ya girl hope they fix it nice and pretty today!

I sure hope she got it fixed for you and refunded your money...that's ridiculous!

Oh that brings back memories. Years ago I was dying my hair caramel blonde and the girl said she was using an "ash" color to counterbalance orange. When she finished I had old lady blue/gray streaks in my hair. I cried. I said, "I have blue hair!" She said to me, "You have brown eyes and I have blue eyes and we see things differently". Not kidding--bizarre! Good luck:)

Thank goodness they are fixing it. I have had a few salon mishaps and they were always awful about taking responsibility. Hope it looks awesome tomorrow!

Oh no! I do see the orange tint! I had a similar incident when I decided to go a little darker for Fall several years ago. I left the salon in tears after I had gone from light blonde to brown. While there is nothing wrong with brown, I have been blonde my entire life! I went back several times for him to get it calmed down before he could highlight it and basically bring it back to what I started with :( Hope everything went better this morning!

Ahhhh it just makes you a true VOLS fan!

Natasha said...

yikes my friend!!! i totally understand and can see the hint of orange...boo :(

maybe it pulled too much gold out?? mine tends to do that sometimes and she has to run a "gray" color through it to prevent that from happening! hope the new result is much more to your liking!

How did the second effort turn out? I'm scared for change because of how the processing will not be what I really want.

Oh no girl, i am so sorry!!
Us blondes have this hair nightmare to deal with every time we venture into new color!!

When I was 21, I decided to go REALLY blonde - it was so orange that I had to go to the hairdresser to have it stripped and peroxided - needless to say I had albino white hair at my 21st birthday... yuk!!

I see a little tint yes but I wouldn't notice it just out and about. I totally feel you girl. I had a NYE experience once that left my hair a brassy color and I freaked!
