Wine Down Wednesday

Thank you all for commenting yesterday!  I had so much fun "meeting" new bloggers and catching up with friends.  I hope you enjoyed it as well.

Since it's been a busy week, I came home from a dinner with an old friend and had a much needed glass of wine.  That got me thinking about some of my favorite wines.

When I first stared drinking wine, I became a fan of the white wines, especially chardonnay.  To this day, my go-to wine is a chardonnay, but I do have my two favorites:

Barefoot Chardonnay
Toasted Head Chardonnay

One day, I got adventurous and decided to branch out and try Riesling.  I'm not sure if it was because of the fruitier tastes or what, but I fell in love.  These two have quickly become my favorites:

Relax Riesling
Polka Dot Riesing

I've never really been a fan of red wine.  I think it started when I traveled across Europe after college and we stayed at a French chateau and winery.  The winery specialized in red wine, so I decided to indulge.  Bad idea.  My first sip was after a good long walk uphill, in the blazing sun while carrying a picnic without water.  I vowed never to drink red wine again.

It wasn't until a friend of mine, and avid Chardonnay drinker, told me how much he enjoyed  Firesteed Pinot Noir that I decided to give reds another try. And to my surprise, I actually really enjoyed it.
Fred and I were heading out to dinner one night and the place we were going was BYOB, so we stopped to grab a bottle of wine. They did not carry Firesteed and the manager suggested we try Irony Pinot Noir. Since then, I've gone back and forth between the two.
What are some of your favorite wines?

I love wine too. It has to be really sweet for me to enjoy it so I usually stick with a reislIng or a moscato. I also like Bethenny's skinny girl line especially the sangria.

I love Riesling. My favorite is Hogue's Late Harvest.

You should try a Sweet Red. It's red, but served chilled & pretty good. Also? our local liquor store suggested a chilled sweet Cab. It doesn't tasted ANYTHING like a regular Cab, but i haven't been able to find it anywhere except that one local store.

I am not much of a red fan...yet anyway! I'm much more of a Moscato fan, specifically Barefoot. I'm a cheap wine gal, what can I say!

I used to hate red until I tried Malbec and now I don't really care for white, funny thing!!!

I've always been more of a red than white fan. But my mother LOVED her reisling. Try Cheatue St Michelle for a reisling.

I love wine! Pinot Grigio and Riesling are my favorites. I am not a fan of most Chardonnays, and I've only tried one red that I didn't hate, and I have no idea what it was. HAHAHAHA

Moscato is my go-to wine, but for a good red, I like the blends. Apothic red is my favorite. For a yummy sweet red, try Rosa di Rosa! Yummy! I've got several friends in the wine business, so I can go on and on..haha!

I'm a big fan of Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough region) and Malbec! But who are we kidding, I'll drink just about anything;)

Isn't it so funny how much your taste buds change? I used to HATE red wines and now I'll drink all kinds. If you like Riesling you should definitely try Moscato. It's a sweet, deliciously refreshing white. Try to find the brand Flip Flop. It's like $5 or $6, and so delicious.

There is a winery in my home state of NM called Luna Rossa. We had their wines at my rehearsal dinner and they are amazing! Other then that I am pretty easy when it comes to most wines. I have recently started liking more red wines.

I alternate between loving red and white. Right now, I'm definitely in a white mood, but will probably switch over to red once it gets cold out. I love a good Pinot - both grigio and noir. Mmmmm.

Yum...I'm a big Pinot Noir and Malbec fan. I love me some red wine! Reisling is too sweet for me but I can occasionally do Moscato.

Visit my blog, I'm hosting a giveaway!

I am no wine snob by any means, but I grew up in the part of WA state that is known for their wines (apparently many of the wineries give Napa a run for their money). I don't discriminate, but I love Cabernets for reds and then also Viognier for whites. I think you would like Viognier, it's similiar to a chardonnay, but it's usually made in steel not oak so it is very fresh and slighty fruity.

We got a bottle of menage a trois for our engagement party and I loved it!! I still buy it frequently even though my husband doesn't like wine. It's delicious, and it shows you that I am super classy with my blends!

LOVE this post! I'm always so scared to try new wines for some reason.. especially reds! I just never know what to buy. But I do love the polka dot, so good! And if you like Chardonnay and Riesling you should try the Apothic White; it's a blend so it's not too dry or too sweet. Definitely one of my newest favorites!
