Over the weekend, I decided that I needed to do a timed race in preparation for my upcoming 1/2 marathon. The weather was supposed to be beautiful on Saturday and I found a race that was close to my heart.
I ran in The Human Race 5K, benefitting Life Choices of Memphis. LC is an organization committed to providing a non-judgemental and Christ-like environment geared towards educating and empowering women to make life-affiriming decisions such as adoption. Since November is National Adoption Month and we're adopting, I definitely wanted to show my support.
I am happy to report that I finished the 5K in 25:56. That's just 22 seconds shy of my PR.
Official Stats
Race Time: 25:56
Average Pace: 8:21
Division Rank: 5
Gender Rank: 7
After the race, I came home and ran another 2 miles. That, ladies and gents, is how you know you're seriously training to run a 1/2 marathon.

Great cause and great job with the running! You are doing so great! :)
Awesome! So proud of you!
Congratulations on a great race! When is your half marathon?
What an awesome organization and cause! You're so dedicated too ;)
You are awesome!! I'm so impressed with your times. I'm a super slow runner so I'll probably never have a 5k under 29 minutes! I'm running my first half this weekend. Unlike you, I have been a real slacker in my training so I'm not sure how well it will go! Eeek!
Get it girl, you are just the runner-be!
