Operation Bikini Body

It's time for Operation Bikini Body to begin!  With our upcoming anniversary trip (place TBD) and my recent surgery, it's time for me to kick it in gear.  The surgery left me with some not so fab abs and I've been given the go ahead to really start working out again.

I want to be able to not only wear a bikini, but to actually look good and feel great doing so.

The Plan:
Skip the dessert most nights (minus Valentine's Day)
Drink more water
Keep a log of what I eat
Pure Barre at least 2x per week
Treadmill and/or Elliptical 5 times a week

The Goal:
To wear one of these bad boys...

I know I'm a LONG ways off of looking like a Victoria's Secret swimsuit model, but I think a bikini is do-able.  So, here goes nothing...

What are you doing to stay fit?

Locals Only

Happy Monday!  I've been wanting to do something different for a while.  Kinda like a "stay-cation".  So, Fred and I decided that we would take a challenge to only eat at local businesses over the weekend.

We kicked off our "local only dining" weekend with my mom's birthday dinner at Flight.  The concept of a "flight", meaning 3 small choices, was pretty cool.  And let me say, the food was absolutely delicious.

Since we usually don't get up and eat breakfast on Saturdays, we headed out to Swanky's Taco Shop, our usual Saturday lunch spot.  As usual, it did not disappoint.   Fred had the tacos and I had a burrito bowl.  Unfortunately, I forgot to take a pic.

Saturday night, we tried Le Chardonnay in Overton Square.  I had a pizza while Fred had sliders.  We both really enjoyed the food and we will be back.

And we ended the night with a trip to our favorite local fro yo place, YoLo.

Sunday after church, we headed to Owen Brennan's for brunch.  We went to Owen Brennan's for NYE, but we'd never tried their brunch buffet.  Let me tell you, it was simply amazing!

And we finished up our "local's only" weekend with a birthday dinner at Fred's parents.  His mom ordered BBQ from one of Memphis' top BBQ restaurant, Corky's, and we had a yummy dinner to celebrate her birthday.

We had a busy, but great weekend.  And it was a little challenging to eat all local, but it was fun.  We tried a few new places and indulged on some of our favorites.

Destination Unknown

Our 4th wedding anniversary is almost 2 months away and it's time to start thinking about a quick getaway for just the two of us.  If you've been reading my blog for some time, then you know we love to travel.  We've been to Vegas, NYC, Hawaii, Mexico, Jamaica, and Italy just to name a few.
This year we were thinking somewhere in the continental 48 states that is somewhat warm in early April and has a beach and/or pool.  Here's some of the places we're looking:

Key West, Florida

Palm Springs, California

San Diego, California

Do you have any suggestions for any of these destinations?  And where are you planning your next vacation?

One for the Money

I don't normally do two posts in a day, but I thought this deal was too good to pass up.

Groupon is offering an online deal today for Katherine Heigl's new flick...
You can purchase one ticket for $6 or two tickets for $12.  And the tickets are good so long as the movie is in theaters.  Click here for the deal.

I don't know about where you live, but an evening movie costs us about $10.  So, why not save yourself a couple of bucks and take advantage of this deal?

It looks like a cute flick to see on a date night or with girlfriends.

**I was not paid to promote this item in any way.

Thoughts for Thursday

Whew!  This has been one exhausting week.  And hello, Thursday.  Actually, I thought yesterday was Thursday, but oh well.  Here's to not having to use my brain for much today...

Gotta love "Friends"
So true.
Yes, it does.
I giggled when I saw this!
I knew I loved Reese.

Happy Thursday!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I'm loving Moneyball.  We watched this last night and it was good.  I'm not a fan of Brad since he left Jen for Angelina, but he did a remarkable job.  Definitely rent this.

I'm loving Pure Barre!  I've been taking a few more classes than usual and I'm loving it.  It's such a great workout!

I'm loving my new Lululemon top I got for Pure Barre.  So comfy!

I'm loving that my alma mater has been in the news twice this week.  First with Jason Pierre-Paul and the Giants heading to the Superbowl and second with the Republican Presidential Debate on Monday.  Way to represent, USF!
Brian Williams even threw in a little "Go Bulls" at the end of the night!

I'm loving that "American Idol" is back on!  Is anyone else watching?

I'm loving that it's my wonderful mom's birthday today!  She's such an increadible woman and best friend.  She is so smart, so fun to be around, and so loving.  She does so much for our family and for me.  I am so grateful to call her mine.  Happy Birthday, Mom!

And as always, I'm loving the two special men in my life, Fred and Knox!

What are you loving?

Home Makeover: Dream Edition

I love our house.  We've lived here almost four years and year by year, we redo one of the rooms.  So, here are some ideas for our future "dream" home:

Since I can work from home sometimes, I'd love a home office just like Khloe Kardashian Odom's.  I love the colors and elegance.
I have a rather large closet, but can a woman ever have a big enough closet?
We have a game room upstairs, but we don't really have anything in it.  One day, I'd love to make it a functional movie room.
I know Fred would love to have an outdoor kitchen for grilling.  We love to eat outside when it's nice.
Growing up, we always had a pool.  I would love to have a pool of our own.
What additions or modifications would you make to your home?

George-ous Weekend

Good morning, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

I kicked off the weekend early on Friday by taking Knox to his yearly visit.  Poor little fellow hates shots, but he got a great check up.  For good behavior I took him to Three Dog Bakery for a little goody.   When Fred got off of work, we went out for burgers.

Saturday, Fred went to a car show with our friend Mason while Knox and I snuggled and slept in.  I met them for lunch and then Fred and I ran some of our usual weekend errands.  We made it home to see Tennessee beat UConn.  :) Then we settled in for the night with some pizza and Ides of March.  The movie was really slow, but it was good.  I love George Clooney and Ryan Gosling!
On Sunday, we skipped church and headed out for a nice brunch.  We stopped by to see Fred's parents and then went to see The Descendants followed by dinner with my parents.  Yes, a little more George.  It was a great movie, but very sad and very real!  I see why it got all of the noms!
Last night we had some terrible storms move through the area and now we've got sun!  That's the whacky Memphis weather!  Overall we had a great weekend! And I defintiely got my much needed George-fix. :) So, what did you do this weekend?

Movie Maven

With having the nasty stomach bug this week, the couch and I have become great friends.  When I wasn't working, I was catching up on my shows and watching a few movies.  Here are some of my latest movie picks:

Fred picked Abduction for me because I think Taylor Lautner is such a cutie. It actually wasn't that bad. Kind of cheesy, but very entertaining.
We also got The Change-Up.  It was pretty funny, but very vulgar.  Think Freaky Friday in male adult terms.
We also rented The Hangover Part II.  If you've seen the first one, you've seen this one.  It was still funny, but I liked the first one better.

Don't laugh.  I had a moment of weakness and decided to watch Justin Bieber's Never Say Never.  It was actually really good.  He's uber talented and he's so grounded.  It's not just for kids, ladies.
Now, I need something to put back on our Netflix list? What movies should we watch?
