Third Time Is the Charm

I am officially a three time half marathoner!  On Saturday, I ran my third half marathon, Zero Prostate Cancer Half Marathon, in less than 6 months.

The day started out less than ideal.  The forecast was for thundershowers and that it was.  As my friend and I were driving to the race, it was pouring rain, thundering and lightening.  Honestly, I thought we wouldn't even race (well, maybe I was wishful thinking some too).

Out of the blue, it stopped raining moments before the race began.  But I made sure I was prepared with my trash bag attire and all.  Don't worry.  It came off by Mile 2.

The race was much better than I had anticipated or even hoped.  My goal was to beat my previous personal record of 1:57:51.  And I did just that.

I am proud to say that I completed my third half marathon in 1 hour 45 minutes and 28 seconds.  A new personal record!  A race like this makes me think the Chicago Marathon is actually doable.
Unfortunately, this will be my last half marathon until I run the full marathon.  It makes me a little nervous, but I am so happy to see how far I've come in such a short time.
Race Stats:
Race Rank:  58
Gender Rank:  16
Age Group Rank:  6
Pace:  8:04/mile

I know a lot of you raced this weekend.  How did you do??

Wow! That is an amazing finishing time! Way to go! I can't wait to get back to training for my next half marathon after babyhartkop is born! My pace was a 2-3 min slower than your pace but I love going that distance.

So impressive! Best I can do is 9 1/2-10 min pace, and I can't keep that up for 13 miles..barely 2 miles! Wish I was that fast! :)

Way to go!

That is such an awesome accomplishment! 12 minutes is HUGE off your previous PR. Did you just do alot of speedwork in your training? What's your secret?! Haha. I ran my first half in 1:57 also and am hoping to run a quicker half this fall. Feel free to email me any tips or advice. :)
