Our 4th wedding anniversary is almost 2 months away and it's time to start thinking about a quick getaway for just the two of us. If you've been reading my blog for some time, then you know we love to travel. We've been to Vegas, NYC, Hawaii, Mexico, Jamaica, and Italy just to name a few.

This year we were thinking somewhere in the continental 48 states that is somewhat warm in early April and has a beach and/or pool. Here's some of the places we're looking:

Key West, Florida

Palm Springs, California

San Diego, California

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I'm loving Moneyball. We watched this last night and it was good. I'm not a fan of Brad since he left Jen for Angelina, but he did a remarkable job. Definitely rent this.

I'm loving Pure Barre! I've been taking a few more classes than usual and I'm loving it. It's such a great workout!

I'm loving my new Lululemon top I got for Pure Barre. So comfy!

I'm loving that my alma mater has been in the news twice this week. First with Jason Pierre-Paul and the Giants heading to the Superbowl and second with the Republican Presidential Debate on Monday. Way to represent, USF!

Brian Williams even threw in a little "Go Bulls" at the end of the night!

I'm loving that "American Idol" is back on! Is anyone else watching?

I'm loving that it's my wonderful mom's birthday today! She's such an increadible woman and best friend. She is so smart, so fun to be around, and so loving. She does so much for our family and for me. I am so grateful to call her mine. Happy Birthday, Mom!

And as always, I'm loving the two special men in my life, Fred and Knox!

Home Makeover: Dream Edition

I love our house. We've lived here almost four years and year by year, we redo one of the rooms. So, here are some ideas for our future "dream" home:

Since I can work from home sometimes, I'd love a home office just like Khloe Kardashian Odom's. I love the colors and elegance.

I have a rather large closet, but can a woman ever have a big enough closet?

We have a game room upstairs, but we don't really have anything in it. One day, I'd love to make it a functional movie room.

I know Fred would love to have an outdoor kitchen for grilling. We love to eat outside when it's nice.

Growing up, we always had a pool. I would love to have a pool of our own.

What additions or modifications would you make to your home?

George-ous Weekend

Good morning, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

I kicked off the weekend early on Friday by taking Knox to his yearly visit. Poor little fellow hates shots, but he got a great check up. For good behavior I took him to Three Dog Bakery for a little goody. When Fred got off of work, we went out for burgers.

Saturday, Fred went to a car show with our friend Mason while Knox and I snuggled and slept in. I met them for lunch and then Fred and I ran some of our usual weekend errands. We made it home to see Tennessee beat UConn. :) Then we settled in for the night with some pizza and Ides of March. The movie was really slow, but it was good. I love George Clooney and Ryan Gosling!

On Sunday, we skipped church and headed out for a nice brunch. We stopped by to see Fred's parents and then went to see The Descendants followed by dinner with my parents. Yes, a little more George. It was a great movie, but very sad and very real! I see why it got all of the noms!

Last night we had some terrible storms move through the area and now we've got sun! That's the whacky Memphis weather! Overall we had a great weekend! And I defintiely got my much needed George-fix. :) So, what did you do this weekend?

Movie Maven

With having the nasty stomach bug this week, the couch and I have become great friends. When I wasn't working, I was catching up on my shows and watching a few movies. Here are some of my latest movie picks:

Fred picked Abduction for me because I think Taylor Lautner is such a cutie. It actually wasn't that bad. Kind of cheesy, but very entertaining.

We also got The Change-Up. It was pretty funny, but very vulgar. Think Freaky Friday in male adult terms.

We also rented The Hangover Part II. If you've seen the first one, you've seen this one. It was still funny, but I liked the first one better.

Don't laugh. I had a moment of weakness and decided to watch Justin Bieber's Never Say Never. It was actually really good. He's uber talented and he's so grounded. It's not just for kids, ladies.

Now, I need something to put back on our Netflix list? What movies should we watch?

Beauty and the Beast

No, I'm not talking about "this" Beauty and the Beast...

But the beast of the dreaded stomach bug. Yuck! I've been down and out for the past few days. I'd much rather have a cold than the stomach bug. Fred and Knox have been taking great care of me.

As for beauty, well, I thought I'd show you some of my new favorite beauty products. With 30 approaching in less than a year, I figured it's best to keep taking good care of my skin and to try new and improved products. It was time to stop using the same products as I have since I was a teenager. So, here are my new Top 5:

Clarisonic Mia Pink Polka Dot - I got this for Christmas and it's fabulous. It leaves your skin feeling clean, fresh, and so smooth.

Origins VitaZing - A great moisturizer that adds a little color and has sunscreen

Origins Checks and Balances - It's a great daily face wash. I use this with my Clarisonic.

Down with Downs

As most of you know, our precious angel, Lauren, passed away at 10 weeks gestation last July. After her passing we found out that she had Down syndrome. So, children with Downs are especially close to our heart.

I recently stumbled across Noah's Dad, a blog about a family and their son, Noah, who also has Down syndrome.

In one of his most recent posts, he discussed how Target had used Ryan, another child with Down syndrome, in one of their most recent ads. This brought tears of joy to my eyes.

In reading more of the post, I also found out that Nordstrom had used Ryan in one of their catalogs last year. More tears.

Neither one of these companies made a big deal out of using a model with Down syndrome. They just made Ryan show off his cuteness in their clothes.

I love that these companies are bringing awareness of children with Down syndrome and other disabilities. For me these ads say, without using words, that kids of all shapes and sizes are still just kids! Why exclude them?

Now, I just wish more companies and the world would be more tolerable to those who are different in any way, shape form!

Thank you, Target and Nordstom, for standing up and standing out! Your support of children with Down syndrome is truly amazing. I will continue to be a loyal customer.

Fred, Knox and I had another good weekend, but we're both back at work today. Are we the only ones working on MLK Day?

When we weren't watching football or basketball, I managed to sneak in some girl time for the Miss America pageant and the Golden Globes.

I was so upset that Miss Tennessee was eliminated after the Top 10. I thought she and Miss South Carolina were robbed. But, congratulations to Miss Wisconsin. And shouldn't someone have told her that they make waterproof mascara?!

There were so many beautiful dresses this year on the Golden Globes. It was hard to pick a favorite. Not to mention, I was so happy that "Modern Family", "Homeland" and Claire Danes both won. If you haven't seen "Homeland", you definitely should.

Anyway, back to last night's golden looks. Here are some of my favorites:

HANAair Dryer Product Review

I was contacted a few weeks ago by Misikko about doing a review of their HANAair Professional Hair Dryer. Yes, please.

In less than a week, I received a big box and I couldn't wait to open it! Upon opening the box, I found the hair dryer and some other fabulous hair goodies to use! Jackpot! I just couldn't wait to use the hair dryer!

I've normally been the one to just run down to Target and pick up the snazziest $20 hair dryer I could find, but this dryer has blown them all out of the park. It has great cooling/heating settings, multiple power settings, and a really long cord (which is a plus for me since I watch tv while I dry...oops!). I was amazed at how quickly it dried my hair and how silky and shiny my hair looked. For someone who has long hair, the time that it took me to dry my hair was cut almost in half. Hello, that means more beauty sleep for me! :)

This hair dryer was simply amazing and worth every penny. If you want something that dries your hair quickly but still leaves it looking amazing, splurge a little and invest in the HANAair Professional Hair Dryer. It's truly amazing!!

Yes, it is indeed Friday! Hallelujah!

We don't have many plans for this weekend, but I plan on cheering on Miss Tennessee, Erin Hatley, in the Miss America pageant on Saturday.

She attended the University of Memphis and she's one of my mom's sorority sisters (Alpha Gam). I'd just love to see Miss Tennessee win! Go Erin!

I still love watching beauty pageants. In college, we even had Miss America watch parties. So fun! Didn't every girl dream of being Miss America?

And speaking of pageant girls, have you seen this video of little Alana circling around the internet? This girl is hilarious!

2012 is a BIG year for me. It's the year I turn the BIG 3-0! And I've even got the crazy birthday - 12/12/12. Now, I've got 11 more months before it happens, but it's still a BIG deal.

It makes me feel old. But, I'm really not.

On Monday, I heard that Kate Middleton turned 30. If she can do it, we can all do it. It got me thinking about who else is turning 30 in 2012.

I had to make a quick stop by Walgreens the other day when something caught my eye..

Yep, these fun, little Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips.

I'd seen them before and most recently read a little about them from Pink Lou Lou, but I'd never given them a try.

They were out of the leopard (Kitty, Kitty) so I opted for giraffe (or Queen of the Jungle). They were pretty easy to put on once I figured out a way that worked best for me. They feel like regular nail polish and they make my nails fun. I've gotten a lot of compliments on them.

Life as of Late

This has sort of been the tone for our weekend and I'm totally ok with that! Sometimes you just need a little R&R especially the first weekend after the holidays. But, we did some things over the past week that were quite entertaining.

Last week, Fred and I went to see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Let me tell you, this was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. It's a bit graphic and risque, but it's great! I'm even thinking about reading the books.

Last Wednesday, Fred and I became a house divided. The University of Tennessee and the University of Memphis played basketball against each other. This year, Memphis won! Every year, it's game on! Hey, it's always good to have a little healthy competition!

I borrowed The Help from my mother-in-law at Christmas and I finally had the time to sit down and watch it. The movie was cute, but like always, the book is better!

Fred and I have gotten hooked on yet another television series. Have you seen "Homeland" on Showtime? It's really great and I love Claire Danes.Season 1 is over but we're catching up on our ON Demand.

And how cute is Knox?! He just melts my heart!

My Two Cents to a Better You

With the new year here, I know many of us are trying to eat better and workout more. I know it's a lifetime struggle for me.

Over the past few years of blogging, I've shared with you that before Fred and I were married, I lost 35 lbs. I didn't do this by staving myself or working out 12 hours a day, but I did it by changing my life.

{December 2007 - 165 lbs}

So, here are some tips and tricks that worked for me to become healthier:

1. Embrace the Scale - It's important to know what you weigh, but don't let it define you. Pick one day in the week to weigh yourself. This will help with different fluctuation in your body. My day is Monday.

3. Everything in Moderation - It's ok to enjoy your favorites, but do it in moderation. Do not deprive yourself of something you really want. Enjoy the cocktail or a piece of chocolate, but don't do it every day. I still have my Thursday night Buffalo Wild Wings, but I do it once a week. That's my meal to splurge.

4. Eat Better - Try to incorporate more fruits and veggies into your meals. They are filling and will provide you with essential nutrients than a bag of chips or candy bar.

5. Drink More Water - This is one of the easiest things to incorporate into a weight loss plan. It's simple. Because Memphis has great tap water, I use a 1 liter bottle of Fiji water to keep track of my water intake. I drink one and then refill it to get in my daily supply of water.

6. Get Moving - I think exercise is essential in losing weight. You don't have to start training for a marathon, but you do have to get up and do something. Walking is one of the easiest exercises and it's FREE! Try walking 10 minutes a day and then increase your time each week. You really want to make sure that you get 15,000 steps a day. I walked and did Jazzercise to get my weight off. Both were calorie burning exercises that I enjoyed.

7. Keep Track of What You Eat - This is the hardest for me. I don't want to know about those 10 M&M's I just had to have, but my body knows even if I don't write it down. There are simple things like MyFitnessPal.com or even a pen and paper to just write down what you're consuming.

8. Get Creative - If you don't have a gym membership or you just don't feel like going, try a DVD. One of my favorites is Jillian Michael's "30 Day Shred". It's a great workout in a short amount of time. Use this as a back-up for those days when you can't get to the gym or to your class. Plus, it's good not to get burned out doing the same thing! This DVD kills me everytime!

9. It's All About You - Don't do it for anyone but YOU! Although I was getting married, I did this for me. I wanted to get healthy!

10. Make the Change - Don't just do this for a month or so. Make this a lifetime commitment. It's going to take work, but aren't all good things in life worth the effort?

Some Resolutions Need to Be Made

It's Jaunary 4 and I am just now posting my New Year's Resolutions?! Perhaps stop procrastinating needs to be number one. Anyway, I decided to make 12 resolutions for 2012. Here they are:

1. Be a Better Person: This was one of my resolutions last year. But, it's a continuous process and I want to keep working towards this goal. I would like to continue by striving to be a better wife, daughter, co-worker, blogger, volunteer and friend. I'd also like to improve myself mentally, physically, and spiritually.

2. Get Out and Get Moving: This can be anything from going to the gym to Pure Barre to taking a walk. I need to continue to do this because it is such a stress reliever for me.

3. Use the Kitchen: I usually start off the year by doing pretty well with this one, but I fall off course. I don't know why I don't enjoy doing this all of the time. But, I did make some yummy Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken sandwiches last night. Yum!

4. Stop Worrying: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.." - Philippians 4:6

5. Enjoy Life: You only get one shot! Make it count.

6. Stay Positive: No matter what life throws at me, I need to remain positive because God has a plan.

7. Save More, Spend Less: I'd love to really be successful in this area, but it's a constant struggle.

8. Shut Up and Listen: Learn to take a minute and listen to others.

9. Lend a Helping Hand: I'm involved with the Memphis ADPi Alumnae Association and the Junior League of Memphis. I'd like to continue volunteering to help others in need through these organizations. There is such a great joy that comes with lending a hand.

9. Reach Bookworm Status: I enjoy reading, but I haven't been making the time to do so. There are so many things out there that I want to read. Now, I just need to do it!

10. Travel the Globe: I've been a lot of places in my life, but traveling is one thing I love to do.

11. Get Organized: I'm starting small with this one. I like everything in it's place, but sometimes I don't take that extra 30 seconds to put things back where they belong. This year, I want to rid my life, house, car, and desk of clutter.

12. Hug It Out: One thing Fred loves more than anything is hugs. So, why not hug a little more?

New Year's Eve 2011

We left 2011 with a BANG!

I've been looking for a new car for about six months now and I finally decided on the car. I am the proud new owner of a 2012 Lexus IS 250! My previous car was a 2006 Lexus IS 250 and I loved it. It was a great car, but it was getting older and it was time to get something new!

After a long day of car dealings and showing off our new beauty to family and friends, we got cleaned up and headed out for a New Year's Eve dinner at Owen Brennan's. It's a local restaurant with a New Orleans theme. We dined on Shrimp & Grits and Shrimp Creole. We had a great last supper of 2011.

After dinner, we stopped by Fred's sister's house for her NYE party.

Although we left the party before midnight, we made it home in time to snuggle with Knox and ring in 2012. Well, we might have been asleep by 11:30pm. Oops!

Hello, 2012

2012 - the year for new beginnings. Since I was born on December 12, twelve is my favorite number; therefore, this year is going to be one of the best!

Here's what I'm looking forward to in 2012:

Expanding Our Family: I am looking forward to the journey to parenthood that 2012 brings to us. God has a plan for us and I'm praying 2012 is our year.

Spending Time with My Husband: Fred and I are fortunate enough to spend a lot of time with each other, but every day together is a blessing. He's my best friend and I trust him. We've grown together so much over the past few years.

Spending Time with Family and Friends: We are so blessed with a loving family and a wonderful group of friends. They've been so supportive and encouraging to us. I look forward to spending time with every single one of them.

Spending Time with God: I started reading a daily devotional last year and I hope to continue it throughout 2012. It's great reading the word and understanding God's unconditional love.

The Unknown: I do not know what God has planned for me this year, but I am ready. Bring it on 2012!

Goodbye, 2011

2011 has been quite a year for us. This year I experienced one of the happiest days in my life quickly followed by one of the absolute worst. But, I am so fortunate to have a wonderful husband who is with me through the good, bad and the ugly and a family who loves and supports us through it all. We also have been blessed with so many wonderful friends. This is a year I'm ready to let go and welcome in 2012 with open arms.

But, here are some of my favorite moments of 2011:

We rang in 2011 with some of our closest friends.

My parents rented a house in Florida for the first three months of the year and Fred, Knox and I were able to visit them twice.

In visiting my parents, I was able to visit with some of my closest friends from college.

In February, Fred and I attended Oscar Night America benefiting the Ronald McDonald House of Memphis.

In April, we celebrated our 3rd Anniversary in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

In June, I attended the 160th Alpha Delta Pi Grand Convention in Phoenix, Arizona.

In August, our Memphis ADPi Alumnae Association hosted our 23rd Annual Ronald McDonald House Benefit Golf Tournament in which we raised $30,000 for the RMH of Memphis!

In September, Fred and I took a long weekend trip to Chicago. So much fun!

And Knox got 3rd place in the Running of the Weenies

In October, I helped set up the Junior League of Memphis' Merry Marketplace and Fred came to our gala.

Fred turned 30 on November 5.

We celebrated my 29th birthday with a trip to Italy!

We celebrated another wonderful Christmas with our dear friends and family.

Here's to a happy and blessed 2012. So, what were some of your 2011 highlights?

Three Books, Two Movies and A Series

Since my surgery, I've become a temporary couch potato. I've managed to read three books, watch a pretty decent movie and start a new television series.

Before Christmas, I was watching Kathie Lee & Hoda and Kathie Lee read from her new children's book "The Three Gifts". It's a great way to tell the story of the three kings and Baby Jesus.

I also managed to finish reading "The Help". I really enjoyed this book. I should have listened to everyone about a year ago when they were telling me to read it. Now, I can't wait to see the movie. I hope it's good.

And a dear friend sent me a copy of "Heaven is for Real". I absolutely loved this book. It's a great book for all ages. I bawled my eyes out through part of the book, but it was so real and intriguing. It's a MUST read!

Fred and I also watched "The Tourist". It wasn't the best movie I've ever seen, but we did enjoy seeing Italy. If you're up for a little suspense, check out this movie.

On one of my first outings, Fred was sweet enough to take me on a date to the movies. And I got to choose the movie; so, I chose "New Year's Eve". It's like "Valentine's Day" but on New Years Eve. It's a great date movie. Plus, I loved the cast of characters! Check it out for the new year!

And since all of our shows are on hiatus, we started watching "Parenthood" on Netflix. We LOVE it! Why did we not watch this before?

So, what else should I check out before I lose my "couch potato" status?

Christmas 2011

Hi, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! And that you got to spend it with your loved ones.

The best present we received this year was a new floor installed in our bedroom courtesy of Santa (aka my parents) . After two weeks of sleeping on planes, in hotel rooms, in other rooms in our house and on my parents couch, we are finally back to living in our new and improved bedroom. Do you like?

And after our first two sleeps in our new and improved bedroom, we were ready for Christmas.

We kicked off Christmas Eve with pizza and presents at my parents house.

After lunch, we went to Fred's parents house for presents and appetizers.

After Fred's family's Christmas Eve, we headed to my aunt's house for my dad's side of the family Christmas. It was a wonderful day spent with so many of our loved ones.

On Christmas, we went to church and then stopped by Starbucks for a mid-morning treat. We then went to Fred's aunt's house for his family's big Christmas. After we stuffed ourselves, we headed to our last Christmas at my parents house. It was another great day spent with those we love.

My favorite Christmas 2011 memory: Since Christmas was my first "real" outing since my surgery, I was pooped each night. I also had not worn "real" pants since the surgery since I was still swollen, Fred and I wanted to be funny so we wore our dachshund reindeer pajama pants to my parent's house. Everyone laughed but completely understood wanting to be comfortable.

Italian Travels Day 6

"Go BIG or go home" was our motto for our last day in Italy! So, we decided to wake up early and catch a train to Pisa. Yes, just to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa! If you go there, let me warn you, the tower is about all there is. Make it a quick stop on your journey not a full day.

We arrived in Pisa around lunch so we dined on some pizza and Coca-Cola Light in Pisa!

After our stop in Pisa, we caught another train to the city of Florence. First stop on our tour, to see "The David".

David is housed in the Accademia. He's MUCH larger than life. But unfortunately, we could not take a picture. But we took one outside.

We then headed to the famous Duomo. The architecture was absolutely stunning.

I fell in love with this nativity scene. If you notice, Baby Jesus isn't there because he has not been born. He will appear on Christmas. Amazing!

After the Duomo, we decided to walk around. Let me say, before this trip, I was not a fan of Florence, but I quickly fell in love this time!

We spent the afternoon walking around Florence and enjoying all of the sights. We're not much for the bargaining or leather shopping that goes on, but Florence is a great place for that. After our great afternoon, we headed back for our last night in Rome.

After a wonderful farewell dinner, we headed back to the Vatican to see if they had lit the HUGE tree. Unfortunately, they had not, but it was still a sight to see.

We also had to take a few last minute pics of one of our favorite places in the world!

After dinner and roaming Rome one last time, we caught a train back to our hotel. Ciao, Roma!

Little did we know a 26 hour trip home was ahead of us! But, we won't let that put a damper on our wonderful vacation!

Our trip was absolutely amazing. We experienced great sights, people and food. December was a great time to visit because the lines were long and the weather wasn't so hot. If you ever get the chance, you should visit one of my favorite countries in the world!

Italian Travels Days 4 & 5

Our fourth day in Rome, we decided to take a little day trip down to Naples and then on to Pompeii. The train ride from Rome to Naples was about 4 hours and then a quick 30 minute ride to Pompeii. We made it to Pompei at about noon and it was a great time to be there. No line. No wait.

Pompei (or Pompeii in the English language) is one of the most incredible places I've ever visited. It was destroyed and completely buried during a long catastrophic eruption of the volcano Mt. Vesuvius spanning two days in the year AD 79. What is left is simply amazing...

and we also got a glimpse of the beautiful Italian countryside

After our 8 hour commute to Pompeii and back, we were exhausted. So, we stopped at a little cafe for dinner and had two of the best pies ever!

After our trip to Pompeii, we figured out that we could make our way around the Italian railway system so we decided to make a trip to Perugia. You may know the name Perugia from the Amanda Knox trail, but it's also were I did my study abroad.

Our trip to Perugia also came on my birthday! It was such a fun and great way to celebrate the big 2-9!

After another long day of traveling, we headed to AutoGrill for a quick and yummy birthday dinner! Birthday's don't get much better than those in Perugia and Rome!

Now, on to our last day spent in one of the most wonderful countries!

Italian Travels Days 2 & 3

Our second day in Rome, we woke up early to get to the Vatican Museum. We knew there would be a line and we knew rain was coming; so, we wanted to get there early.

Unfortunately, you cannot take pictures inside the Sistine Chapel, but it was absolutely stunning. The Vatican Museum was so interesting as well. Once outside the museum, the sun decided to come out and join us.

After the Vatican, we got back on the bus and went to the Castel Sant'Angelo. Amazing.

We then traveled to Piazza del Campidoglio

and went to see some of the famous Roman ruins

and made another quick stop by the Colosseum to make our next plan of action.

we finished our day by traveling back to Spagna for dinner, shopping and walking around.

Our third day in Rome, we got up and went on a tour of St. Peter's Basilica (home of the Pope). Like I mentioned before, there were lines, but not nearly as long as they are in the summer. We only waited about 30 minutes before entering the church.

For lunch, we decided to try Hard Rock Cafe Roma. Hey, we needed some American food.

After lunch, we caught one of the many Metro trains...

and headed to see the Catacombes - underground burial places.

Once we reached the Catacombe, we read a sign that said they'd be closed until December 18. Bummer.

Well, at least we had some beautiful scenery even if we never made it inside.

Later that night, we went back to Spanga and walked around. They had the best Christmas decorations!

After another busy day, we headed to our hotel for a yummy pizza dinner and to get some rest for the second half of our trip!

Now, on to Naples, Pompei, Perugia, Pisa and Florence...

Surgery Update and Rome Day 1

Thank you everyone for your sweet words on my surgery. My doctor was able to remove 4 polyps, endometriosis, a band wrapped around my ovary and scar tissue. It's more than what we expected, but we are pleased that he was able to remove it all. Now, I'm just recovering and trying to heal.

And like I mentioned on Friday, Fred and I are back from our vacation to Italy. We based our trip out of Rome but we were able to travel outside of the city too. Once our plane landed, we headed to our hotel for a quick shower then hit the streets for some fun! Here's a recap of day 1:

It;'s a Circus Around Here

Hello, everyone! We are back from our fabulous trip to Italy! It was absolutely amazing and we had a wonderful time. If you're looking to traveling to Italy, December is a great month to do so. The weather was pleasant and the lines for the sights weren't nearly as long as the summer.

There are just a few things I wanted to tell you all before I recap:

1. Thank you for all of the birthday wishes! They were all so sweet. It really means a lot.

2. We are FINALLY home. Our 14 hour flight turned into a 26 hour nightmare. We finally made it home around 2am on Thursday morning. It was a VERY long day to say the least. So add exhaustion to jet lag and you have me.

3. I mentioned that before we left on our trip, we were getting hardwood floors put in our bedroom. Well, they were supposed to finish them before we got back, but they didn't. And probably won't be finished until December 23. Le sigh.

4. Today is my surgery to remove a polyp from my uterus and to look at scar tissue. I'm praying for a successful surgery, quick recovery and the ultimate dream of having a family. I'll be sure and keep you all updated.

Today is my birthday! I have officially entered into my last year in my twenties. It's really a scary thought. I certainly don't feel like I should be 29 and hopefully I don't look it. :) I think in my head that I am 25 or maybe even a little younger.

This year has been quite the year. I was able to experience one of the happiest days of my life and one of the worst. I celebrated my 3rd anniversary with my hubby. I've been fortunate enough to travel to places like the Dominican Republic, Chicago, Florida the lake and Rome, Italy. I've learned that I can't control everything. I've surprised myself by learning new things. And made so many new friends and rekindle past friendships. With all of that said, I would not take back the year.

I am so blessed to have a wonderful, loving husband and to be spending this day with him in one of the most wonderful cities in the entire world. I am blessed with the best fur child EVER. Seriously. I am also so blessed with a family whom I adore and who show unconditional love. I am blessed with great friends who are always there when I need a shoulder to cry on or a smile to warm my heart. And I am blessed with some wonderful blog followers. Your love and support this year has been more than I could have ever imagined. Every day I am reminded why I started my blog.

I'm praying that 29 will be the best year of my life, thus far. Today starts a new chapter in the book of life. So, here's to another wonderful year!

Let the Celebrations Begin

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend. I am super excited because we leave for Rome in 2 days! :) But, before we leave, we had/have lots to do...

Friday, I spent the afternoon having lunch and shopping with my mom and dad. After we shopped until we dropped, we met my grandfather and Fred at Bonefish for my 1st birthday celebration.

After dinner, we went to my parents house for cake and presents!

On Saturday, Fred decorated the outside of our house with Christmas decorations and then we went shopping for the last few Christmas presents we needed. My goal is to have everything bought and wrapped by the time we leave for Rome on Wednesday.

After we shopped til we dropped, we went to Red Robin to use one of my FREE birthday meals. And after dinner we were so pooped that we decided to watch "Friends with Benefits".

It was a really cute and funny movie. We both really liked it! Maybe it was the movie or maybe it just was the eye candy. Either way, rent this for date night!

Sunday, we went to church and then came back home and put on our pjs. The weather was bad so we spent the afternoon lounging on the couch. After a day of laziness, we met up with Mason and Kendra for my birthday celebration #2.

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

The Good: We are leaving for Rome in 5 days! I just can't wait!
The Bad: We had to actually reschedule our trip to Rome. Thankfully, Delta and Hilton were both quite accommodating.
The Ugly: I learned Monday that I have to have surgery on December 16. Hence the reason we had to reschedule our trip. I will be having a small polyp removed from my uterine lining as well as some scar tissue from my ovarian cyst surgery from a year and a half ago. The polyp isn't anything major at this point but could potentially become something so it's best to have it removed now.

I don't like surgery, but God is leading us down this path. Before my appointment Monday, I prayed for God's will and plan for us. Lesson learned, be careful what you pray for. Hopefully, having the polyp and any bad scar tissue removed will help us on our journey to become parents.

The Good: My 29th birthday is 10 days away!
The Bad: It's my last year in my twenties.
The Ugly: Things aren't where they used to be. Should I ask for a little lipo while they're doing surgery??? :) I kid.

The Good: When we get home from Rome, we will have hardwood floors in our bedroom.
The Bad: We've got to take everything apart and off of the walls before they put in our floors (and maybe paint if I can ever pick a color).
The Ugly: Our room will look beautiful, but then we'll have to put all of our furniture back in place.

The Good: Our Christmas decorations are up!
The Bad: We haven't decorated the outside just yet. We missed out on two nice days last weekend because we were shopping. We MUST get it done this weekend.
The Ugly: The personalized Christmas stockings I ordered haven't arrived. I bought them in October and our mantle is bare.

29th Birthday Wishlist

Hello, December! This is the official kick-off of the "12 Days of Caroline". Yep, my birthday! My birthday is on the 12th so why not celebrate 12 days rather than just one?

This will be my last year in my twenties. Eek! Well, it's actually not that bad since most of my friends (and Fred) are turning the BIG 3-0 before me! Oh, how I love being the young one! And I might just keep telling people I'm 29 forever!

Wednesday What-Nots

If you thought you heard about it snowing in Memphis Monday and Tuesday, you don't need to have your ears checked. Yes, we had snow. Granted it didn't stick to the roads or sidewalks, but it did indeed snow. See?

I am so proud of Tim Tebow standing up for Jesus Christ and sticking to his beliefs in his most recent interview. There aren't many "celebrities" who would do that.

I am just so excited to see the Christmas tree lighting in Rockerfeller Center tonight! It's just so magical!

We had a slight hiccup in our trip to Rome this week, but we were able to move our trip up a couple of days and now we leave ONE week from TODAY! So excited! {more on the whole ordeal later}

I am one of those people who feel like I can't break out the Christmas movies, cds or decorations until after Thanksgiving. But, now, it's time.

On Black Friday, we woke up late, took Knox for a long walk, and ventured out to do a little shopping. It really wasn't too bad and we got the things we really needed. I just don't do the midnight or 4am thing. I like my sleep WAY too much!

Saturday, we had lunch with friends and then headed out to run some of the errands we didn't finish Friday.

I’m THANKful For the Special People in My Life!

I am so thankful for my husband. I love him more than words could ever express. He is my rock and my everything. He lifts me up when I am down and makes me want to be a better wife, dog mother, daughter, friend and person.

I am thankful for my parents. They've taught me so much about love, marriage, kindness, support and life. They are such great role models. I always look to them for encouragement and advice.

I am thankful for Fred's parents. Without them, I wouldn't have the love of my life. That is the greatest gift they could have ever given me. They are wonderful, loving people.

I am so thankful for my grandfather(pictured with my mom and Willie). He is such an amazing man who has taught me so much about love and life. His famous saying, "In 50 years, this won't matter." He can always put a smile on my face. He's the best grandfather ever!

I am also thankful for my brother, Willie!

I am so thankful for Knox. He's the best pup and he's taught me what it's like to have to care for another "person". He's full of so much energy, love and fun!

I’m THANKful For Thanksgiving Traditions!

Thanksgiving in our family is an all-day extravaganza! We wake up late, watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and get ready for our two feasts. We start off with Thanksgiving lunch at my parents house around 12pm, stuff ourselves and then head to Fred's parents' house around 7pm and do it all over again.

I actually feel bad at Fred's family's Thanksgiving because I usually don't eat a lot since I'm still stuffed from my family's Thanksgiving. But I still pig out (or is it turkey out?!)

But if the night ends early (and we can push ourselves away from the table), we try and go to see a movie since our 1st date was on Thanksgiving 5 years ago! Who knows, maybe this year, we'll hit Target and Macy's at midnight! :)

Back to the Future

I can't believe Thanksgiving week is upon us! We had a great weekend to kick off what I hope to be a great week.

Friday night, we went with Leslie and Sam to see "Breaking Dawn Part 1". It was so good. I'm so excited for Part 2.

And we spent much of Sunday running errands and knocking out a lot of our Christmas list! We both felt so productive and rewarded ourselves with another Downtown Dining Week meal at Itta Bena.

Yes, forget the turkey and dressing and pass the cranberry sauce. I could eat cans of this stuff. It's my favorite (and I know you can buy it year round) Thanksgiving dish! Yum!

2. I couldn't live without my iPhone. I think it's connected to me at all times.

3. I am fortunate enough to have a car with a GPS. I'd be so lost without it!

4. I love my iPad. It's like a bigger iPhone. This is what I'm doing most evenings!

5. The microwave might just be one of the coolest inventions ever! Thank you for making cooking easier!

6. I love my air conditioning when it's warm and my heat when it's cold.

Downtown Dining Week

Last night Fred and I participated in Memphis' 3rd Annual "Downtown Dining Week". It's an event where you go to a restaurant downtown, dine on a pre fix menu and only pay $20.11 (per person). It's a great way to get Memphians to try local restaurants for a discounted price.

We chose McEwen's on Monroe.

We dined on:

APPETIZER:

Mixed Green Salad with Fresh Greens, Cucumbers, Tomatoes, Red Onions and Aged Red Wine Vinaigrette

CHOICE OF ENTREE:
Grilled Pork Loin with Apple Brandy Sauce, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, and Sauteed Green Beans
OR
Blackened Tilapia with Sundried Tomato Pesto and Parpadelle Pasta, and Sauteed Spinach

CHOICE OF DESSERT:
Cookies and Cream Bread Pudding with Vanilla Anglaise
OR
McEwen's Apple Golden Raisin Cobbler

We got one of each to split and let me tell you, it was absolutely delicious! Everything we had tasted oh so good. If you live in Memphis or you're just visiting, visit McEwen's on Monroe!

1. Are you going to see Breaking Dawn at the midnight release?

No, but I do have my tickets for Friday night. I can't stay up til Midnight.

2. Scene you're most looking forward to in Breaking Dawn?

I can't wait to see the wedding. Everyone loves a good wedding.

3. Team Edward or Jacob?

I am Team Jacob. Love Taylor Lautner!

4. Favorite book in the Saga?

I still like Twilight.

5. Favorite character in the series and why?

I love Jacob. I think he's so sweet and caring. And he's a hottie!

6. Why do you love Twilight?

I love a good romance story. I was never a huge vampire/wearwolf fan, but this series sucked me in with the love story.

7. Are the books or movies better?

The books are ALWAYS better! But, the movies haven't disappointed.

8. What do you dislike about the series?

I don't like the name, Renesme (sp?). Ha! It's the only part I didn't like!

9. Your craziest fan moment.

Watching the trailers over and over. But, if I ever met Taylor Lautner, I might drool.

10. Do you have a Twilight collection?

No, I just have the books. Maybe I'll invest in the movies one day.

I’m THANKful For My Hometown!

I was born and raised (and currently live) in Memphis, Tennessee!

Memphis is home of the most delicious BBQ you've ever put in your mouth

And home to one of the greatest Rock 'N Roll legends of all time!

We're also home to: Graceland, Sun Studios, Ardent Studios, National Civil Rights Museum, Beale Street, the Memphis Grizzlies, the Memphis Redbirds (St. Louis Cardinals AAA Team) and much, much more!

And these are just a few of the people who have called Memphis home:

It may not be the greatest place to ever visit or live, but it's home!

The reason I love Memphis the most is because that's where my family (and Fred's) is from! We'll probably never leave and we are ok with that.

Hey, all! I hope you all are having a great start to your week.

This past weekend, Fred and I ran in a 5K put on by the ADPi's at the University of Memphis. We did not train for this race, but we did come in 88th and 89th place with 36:20. Not too shabby for old people!

And I got lots of Christmas shopping done and lots of things done around the house (finally). :)

But, I am so excited to tell you that we will be spending my 29th birthday here...

Eek! I just can't wait! Rome is my favorite place I've visited and I am so excited to show it to Fred. I know he's going to love it!

Happy Friday, everyone! I hope you've all had a great week. I know I've enjoyed my week of doing absolutely nothing (other than work and working out). So, I've had lots of time to reconnect with the world and here are a few things I'm obsessed with this week:

How much do I love Carrie Underwood? Let me count the ways. Did you see her on the CMA's Wednesday night? She is so beautiful. I did ask Santa to make me look like her for Christmas. I hope he heard me. :)

I am just loving the annual "Where in the World is Matt Lauer?" series. What I would do to be him for this one week?! So far, he's been to the Skeleton Coast of Africa, Madrid, Spain, Malaysia, the Swiss Alps and Barbados! Lucky, guy!
