Journey to Our Family

Fred and I had been married for a year and a half when we decided to start trying for children.  Like most couples, we thought we'd get pregnant instantly, but that wasn't the case.  Here's an overview of our journey to parenthood:

November 2009:  Stopped birth control
July 2010:  Surgery to remove a dermoid cyst off of my right ovary
January 2011:  Clomid 50mg
February 2011:  Clomid 50mg
March 2011:  Clomid 100mg
April 2011:  Clomid 100mg
June 2011:  We find out we are pregnant without any medication.
July 28, 2011:  Miscarriage at 10 weeks gestation {Lauren Elise Smithwick}
December 2011:  Surgery to remove scar tissue, polyps, and endometriosis.
January 2012:  IUI #1 {Unsuccessful}
June 2012:  IVF #1 {Unsuccessful}
July 2012:  We decide to adopt.
July 5, 2012:  Our first home study meeting.
September 5, 2012:  Home study is complete and we are a waiting family with American Adoptions.
December 4, 2012:  We receive a call saying that we had been "matched" with a birth mother.
December 6, 2012:  Eli James Smithwick was born at 6:21am.  He weighed 6 lbs.14 oz. and was 19 1/2" long.

Wow! What a story. Even from the outline you listed, I can't imagine going through that. You are a strong woman.
What a blessing you are for little Eli.
